Classic forum is full of people who think Bruce Lee beats Wanderlei Silva and people who think the moon landing was staged.
And Tyson also said he wouldn't even dare thinking of laying a finger on any of his heroes. Thing was, Tyson inherited D'amato's love of boxing history and watching archival fights and to him they were boxing gods and he'd never be worthy of even sharing the same ring with them so of course he's going to be nothing but humble. That footage of Tyson was before he lost the plot and I think is a great example of the discipline he had while he was under the guidance of Cus, Rooney, and to a lessor extent Bill Clayton etc. With the right corner keeping him focus, I think Tyson could beat Ali by decision. Ali struggled against shorter fighters who ducked under his jabs and was highly susceptable to the left hook; Tyson excelled against outfighters where he could move forward and had awesome hooks with either hand.
Age is not the single determining factor of when a fighter is in his prime. Also you contradict yourself acknowledging Tyson didn't train properly yet consider him in prime condition. Once you reach the top you still have to continue to do the hard work you did to get there or else your skills and mental focus diminish. Once you reach a certain skill level you don't automatically retain it for life - it's a continual process to at least maintain that level. Douglas used his grief to mentally focus on the fight - his problems were turned into a positive and he came into the fight in career-best form. Tyson spent alot of time partying in Japan, missed training sessions and wasn't fully-focused anyway, and just like everybody else thought he could coast to victory believing his own hype and power. This was a negative distraction. Just because you are an Ali fan doesn't mean you have to disregard objectivity.
lets also not forget that was the first time in his entire career he was tagged like that and lets not forget how he rose at the count of 3/4 after taking the monster left hook from FRAZIER in the FIFTEENTH round
what a DICKKKKKKKKK you are a true wankstain...bloody reprobate. i pick ali over tyson....BUT are you referring to the SAME larry holmes that fought the undisputed heavyweight champion evander holyfield YEARS after he fought Tyson? and took him the distance? the same larry holmes that put a whupping on a peak ray mercer in 1992?! the same larry holmes that narrowly lost a split decision to oliver mccall in 1995??? almost TEN YEARS after he fought tyson? Tyson's KO of larry holmes in the brutal, swift, and devastating fashion in which it happened, was nothing short of a great performance. and douglas' mother might have died, but the ****er had nothing to lose, and trained his heart out, as opposed to tyson, who was partying, taking + shitting dope day and night prior to the fight. no way a conditioned tyson loses to ANY douglas, no ****ing way....in the tyson douglas fight, the first 7 rounds tyson was sluggish, showed no head movement, and did not let ANY punches go...and ur telling me that was a reflection of the 'peak tyson??' it was so well documented that tysons focus was on everything BUT boxing for that fight, yet he still almost ended it in the eight. take nothing away from douglas, he fought his heart out, but that was NOT iron mike in there with him that night. anyhow, ali > tyson
