The first Holyfield fight was an exception for Bowe -- the fight where everything clicked. He wasn't in that company, period.

Liston hit much harder than Bowe and had a better chin.

Liston is the most matched up fighter on ESB at the present time and he's been dead for 40 years.

he's both honeslty. underrated as a whole (fat bum who put it together on ONE night) and overrated h2h (at his best, UNBEATABLE)

his career was very, very solid imo...he beat plenty of decent opposition and went 2-1 against a likely top 10 heavyweight, who fought PERFECT in the second. not bad

h2h, he's very good but he had a ton of advantages over holyfield in all 3 fights. that and mediocre performances pre-title (ie: tubbs), the prepensity to slug, inconsistent jab, and inconsistent training give people plenty to rag on

Its is funny when people will just flat out tell you that is person hits harder than another person without proof and make it a fact. Who said Liston hit harder? You people? Again Bowe knocked out heavyweigths and Liston knocked out middleweights.

You seem to be hung up on Liston's destruction of Patterson.

How about his destruction of Cleveland Williams, who was bigger than Liston?

cleveland williams was not bigger than liston, he was taller and he weighed 210 pounds, he was a muscular guy, with very good power in the left hook but that´s all, he was very beatable even by bums and average fighters, liston was not the only one who stopped williams, liston never was proved against very good full sized hws, liston is not in the league of foreman, tyson, tua, shavers .. in the hitting power department, bowe was bigger, stronger, tougher and much better than williams, however holyfield had a better chin than liston, he had more stamina, he was faster, he was taller and weighed the same than liston,he had x5 more heart and he was a better COMBINATION puncher.

i'm with you that holyfield was better, not that bowe was though. bowe had the tools, didn't use em and the fact that he routinely forget his jab and decided "**** it, let's brawl" would get him in trouble.

bowe is in no way as good a puncher as liston. his jab is great if he ****ing used it. but he was dumb. and only peaked for a few fights...look at how badly he struggled with tubbs (he wasn't green, just dumb)

better than who? bowe was much better than williams and i think that he was better than liston in his peak 92.
yes, he struggled with tubbs, but tubbs was nothing like liston, he had much faster feet and hands, and he was a smarter fighter, another style... liston would brawl with bowe, and riddick was the bigger and probably more powerful man here, and he was proved against stronghws, not little cruisers, even holyfield was how heavy as liston when he faced bowe.
