bowe was better than williams, no doubt. don't think he was better than liston though. on footage or resume, just disagree.

if it goes to a brawl i only see liston winning. bowe's skills were best on the outside, though he had a TREMENDOUS uppercut. no doubt. but he could get caught with left hooks and if holy dropped him, liston could take him out

 

1960-'61 Liston would have taken Bowe's best and dispatched the Garbage Man in less than 4.

Tough call. A prime Bowe vs prime Liston would be a great fight. I think either guy could win this. I'm gonna give the slight edge to a prime Liston, but it would be almost too close to call imo.

 

it seems to me if liston can neutralize his jab (which liston could) and land that left hook (which he could when bowe slugs) then liston wins

 

I really really like the Liston chances here.

I don't like that sloppy wide right hand Bowe threw from way on the outside against this guy. It was a wide arching punch and not all that accurate and usually went around a guy's head or missed completely. He threw a ton of those wide right hand leads. Too many.

I think Sonny backs him up and Bowe throws some right hand leads and the lefthook of Liston gets there first and ends the fight.
