Impossible to say due to weights.

Obviously, because of that, Hatton would certainly beat Valero, even though Valero at 130 and 135 is a solid H2H fighter, the limits of which we will never know. He gets overrated and underrated on here. Overrated by people who think he kills Hatton and Pacquiao, underrated by people who say he would not be a H2H monster among other fighters with his somewhat low level of competition.

Hatton proved himself. It's hard to take Valero versus any of the top guys in the sport, because there is no context. Valero is one of the most over-romanticized fighters...ever.

Valero would KO him. At times resumes aren't really needed to determine who would win a fight. If that was the case Mike Tyson loses to every great HWY in the history of boxing. That isn't really fair is it? I'm not comparing Valero to Tyson, but somewhere along the spectrum of reason you have to sit down and think, damn so and so really was a beast and stylistically he matches up favorably against so and so fighter. Just my opinion. I genuinely think Valero was a special fighter.

The amount of people who saw the KO run bandwagon and jumped on is scary. Even with the KO%, the exciting style, etc, it is this simple. Hatton was a fully fledged 140lber who was very physically strong for the weight, he also had the ability to overturn stylistic disadvantages aside from the very best in the sport. He had elite level footspeed and a durable chin that allowed him to **** his left hook (to body and head) and land frequently. He also wasn't scared to work up close and employ dirty tricks.

Up against a boxer who only campaigned at 135lbs 3 times with one credible win, you HAVE to favour the boxer who was physically bigger, beat a lot higher quality opposition, and also won a world title at a higher weight.

But wait, Valero KO'd all his opponents, so I guess he steamrolls Hatton and makes easy work of the aggressive Pacquiao, even the defensive Mayweather. :deal

The KO streak was no more significant than Tyrone Brunson's, when you scratch the surface.

"Tyrone Who?", some of you noobs might ask. Look him up.

The only difference between Valero and Brunson is that one didn't hang around long enough to get exposed.

Actually that's maybe a bit unfair, since Valero did accomplish more than Brunson in his time and was clearly a greater p4p talent. Valero wasn't a complete fraud. As of his swansong against DeMarco (but prior to his suicide), I'd commented that while he seemed to have lost some of his snap in his punches he did put in an impressive performance and was "in the mix" at LW. He was a good world titlist caliber fighter. He was not an ATG in the making. We did not get robbed of epic 1st-ballot HOF greatness. People need to remove the revisionist nostalgia-tinted glasses and let that go.

How does he match up well with Hatton in terms of style?

If anything, it's the style clash that puts him in big trouble.

It has nothing to do with resumes.

Looking at footage of both in their primes, and knowing Hatton was a natural junior welter and Valero two divisions smaller is all that's needed to see this one clearly.

If anything, Boxrec scholars might be misled into believing Valero had the power to knock Hatton out cold - especially if they listen to some of the goobers that even now drool over him.

Right here. :deal I certainly wouldn't have counted Valero out in a fight. HIs aggression and power was unlike anything we've seen in ages. Makes for a tough fight. Especially for Hatton, who fought w/ a stalkers mentality.

    :patsch

Against whom did he exhibit this special ages-to-come-by aggression and power?

His best opponent was Mosquera, and 2nd best was DeMarco. Neither is anywhere near elite.

You have eyes....try using them rather then relying some outdated, and oft proven wrong idea that one must have already beaten a guy at the top level befiore they can beat a guy at the top level. With your mentality, no fighter should have EVER beaten a top level fighter the first time since they would never have done that yet. How did Hatton beat Tszyu? He had never beaten anyone on Tszyu's level before did he? How did Shane mosley beat DLH? Never beat anyone near as good before. It happens, so relax.

Besides, look at what I agreed with. Said most likely a Hatton UD.

EDIT: Look at the part that said IF....
