Prime Morales was 122. For most prime Floyd was 130-135. I think Morales at 122 was just as good as Floyd at 130. Not to take from Floyd, but IMO Chico gets abit overrated. When Barrera was close to his peak there was talk he whipped Chico in sparring and when Erik was close to his he whipped Floyd. We all know that's not really a measuring stick, but it still gives you an idea how great Barrera and Morales really were in 2000 and in their classic first fight as most suspected MIGHT of taken alot out of them and both never the same afterwards. Such an awesome, unyielding, **** you I'm not losing to you kind of fight HAS to take something away from you no matter who you are. I have to choose a draw on this one. Eriks feints were a nightmare for Floyds counterpunching style. At the sametime Erik struggled with mobile boxers.
If you're an opponent of Floyd and he has more advantages than disadvantages over you..............you've already lost before the 1st punch even gets thrown. Erik would have his moments but Floyd is too skillful, too smart, and too fast for him. That is just the way it is.
People forget that not only did Mayweather have the fastest hands in boxing at the lower weightclasses, but he had knockout power as well. I like Morales but no... not at all. Don't even try it.
The best Mayweather beats the best Morales. Morales was also probably prime 122-126 depending on your view, and Floyd 135/140
Lol. Floyd is in another level over Morales and Floyd is bigger, faster, while Morales best weight was around 126. People are really ******ed when it comes down to Floyd jr. Apparantly classic boxers can all whoop Floyd and Modern boxers from lower weight class too as well.
I agree with those stating that the best weights are surely too far apart for this 'Prime vs Prime' match up to take place?? The closer we go to feather the more chance I give Erik but obviously Floyd isnt prime there and giving something up, vice versa when we start going over 130 for Morales. Either way one of them would be giving up something. If it did get set say for some reason at 128 catchweight I'd go Floyd, but I think it's a silly question.
There's no footage, it's all sparring world of mouth myths. Morales might of handled Floyd in sparring, who knows but at the end of the day it's sparring and I'm sure all sorts go on behind closed doors that we dont even end up hearing about.
The lack of overlap makes it difficult to judge. Toss up for me, TBH. Erik's fundamentals, ability to exchange relentlessly, well-timed overhand right, feints, jabs, and combination punching would give Floyd a lot of trouble. Is it enough to penetrate the guard often enough to outnumber the counters he eats in the process in at least 7 rounds? Not sure.
Morales beats Mike Tyson, **** off all of y'all! And to quote THE MAN himself "I would give Mayweather the most ****ed fight of his entire ****ing life" - Erik Morales VIVA VIVA VIVA EL TERRIBLE!
