I guess Greb would take the first fight, but Moore would find a way to solve the puzzle in the rematch.

Great matchup..... Moore was an amazing fighter, but Greb was not ever going to stop throwing punches... eventually he wears Moore down. Greb by Dec with Moore getting shellacked in the later rounds.

I think Moore could put Greb down in the early rounds, I just don't see the greatest LB for LB fighter in history staying down.

When was Archie Moore in his prime? During the 1940s, Moore was a terrific fighter, but really wasn't the best in the middleweight or light-heavyweight divisions at the time. His most dominant period as a light-heavyweight was during the1950s, but was that an illusion partly caused by a relative lack of depth in the weight division compared to the 1940s? Moore's greatest achievement probably was fighting such a high level for about 25 years.

Could Moore match up well with a fighter with the quickness, stamina and work rate of Harry Greb, who had so much success when fighting the best middleweights, light-heavyweights and heavyweights of his day during his peak? I doubt it.

    I wouldn't envisage Greb weighing 160lb s for this more like 170/172lb s.
I doubt Moore's hand speed would be comparable with Greb's just my thoughts.

Hard to say Greb beat many good Light-Heavyweights but he also lost to Tunney quite a few times, was Tunney better than More at light heavyweight ? or is the fight at any weight.....I would favor Moore but this is the Greb we are talking about so anything's possible

How would you know how fast grebs hands were? No film.

We have film of a prime archie Moore in the late 40s-early 50s..we know he had very fast hands..and great reflexes..and a great puncher..and super intelligence..and great upper body movement..and unbelievable skills..and he was a big strong 175lb.

Greb was an average size 160. What makes you think he could win a trilogy against possibly a top 2 greatest light heavyweight of all time?

Greb could easily be top 1 in the lhw division. He beat more all time greats, hofers, and champions at 175 than any other lhw in history. Moore wasnt superman and he lost or struggled with worse fighters than greb. The comment about greb losing to Tunney is a bit misplaced considering Greb was past his prime by their first fight and still managed to beat Tunney in 3 out of 5. Could Moore do the same? Im not so sure. As for Greb being an average sized mw, well, the biggest complaint by his mw opponents during his career was that he wasnt a natural mw. There was constant speculation, for nearly a decade, about whether or not he would make weight in fights. He was in fact a big mw, naturally weighing about 165 when trained down. Given his success against hws, his strength, his speed, and his durability, i see no reason to believe that Moore would be either too big, too strong, or too hard hitting for him. Finally, we know Greb had fast hands because until the very end of his career he was considered the fastest man in the divisions he was fighting in and against the opponents he was fighting (many of whom were very fast themselves). Moore himself was not a guy i think of as fast. He had impeccable timing which accounted for him walking guys into counters etc but he wasnt extremely fast either of hand or foot.

Where is your evidence he beat Tunney 3 out of 5?

Where is the film proving grebs speed?

We have plenty of film of moore. Your telling me Moores hands and upper body movement don't look fast in his prime?

Lastly, how is greb going to outspeed Moore? Moore beat plenty of fast fighters. Fast fighters whom were bigger than Greb too.

Greb never saw a style like Moores before. A big strong highly skilled long armed defensive genius who hit like a freight train, and set cagey traps even the great fighters would sucomb too

In my opinion Greb fought in an era where fighters styles were still evolving. Fighters in the 20s kept there hands low, chins sticking out, they leaned back to avoid getting hit, they arm punched, didn't throw punches in combinations, didn't double or tripLe up on the jab. They couldn't compete with modern fighters trying to fight like that. The era in which moore dominated, fighting was much more modern and evolved in technique. The fighters moore beat were better fundamentally sound than the fighters Greb beat
