But power is all but useless if the timing and reflexes are eroded. Such was the case with Dempsey. Not so with the prime Moorer.

Moorer by KO or UD. Tunney is overrated, imo.

Tunney was able to defeat an all time puncher that was past prime. Moorer got flattened by Foreman whose reflexes were all but gone.

Larry Holmes said it best: "Even a blind squirrel will get lucky and find an acorn every once in awhile".

That shot flattens Tunney as well, btw.

That shot never lands on Tunney. He had better concentration and better legs than Moorer.

9 times out of 10 that shot doesn't land on Moorer either.

Moorer at his best was bigger, stronger and harder-hitting than Tunney. Moorer fought closer approximations to Tunney than Tunney fought approximations to Moorer.

Tunney wasn't that hard to hit. If Moorer lands on him, and he will, Gene could get KO'd. If not he'll go into defensive mode and get outpointed.

Tunny had a very good defense. Since Johnson he was the best pure boxer by far of any hwt champion IMO. Tunney would outbox the cautious Moore for U decision win. Tunney way too smart and too well conditioned to lose here.

Tunney is the better technical boxer. Superior counterpuncher as well. I've got to go with Tunney here.

I'll agree to disagree on this one. Although I will say your middle paragraph has fair points along with the fact Tunney never faced a southpaw.
I disagree that Tunney was easy to hit and that Moorer was anywhere near the defensive fighter Tunney was.

    Tunney outclasses Moorer.
