He had other fights to attend to. His manager was pretty busy getting lucrative deals.

don't get it twisted even if they had met at 130 Floyd would have 3 steps faster then he is now. Floyd biggest advantage is that he has always had a mature style despite his young years. JMM Loses to floyd at 130. No one has given floyd credit for beating JMM.

This is one of my favorite JMM videos. I like the ending where it shows his work ethic at the gym and then running in the mountains.:good

Juan Manuel Marquez is one of those few boxers that has my absolute respect. It will be hard to see him retire when the time comes.

I have always known that Marquez was gonna be a great fighter. I saw him in his 11th pro fight at the Forum and i remember telling everyone about this hot prospect, Remember telling my dad that this guy is gonna be the future next great mexican fighter in only his 11th fight he was fighting like a seasoned Pro, At the time i thought his style resembled the late great Sal Sanchez.

The speed difference would have still been there at 130 lbs, but where Marquez would have closed the gap in was strenghth and punching power.
..........at 130 lbs Mayweather imo could not have imposed his strenghth on Marquez, and if you really pay attention to the happening of their fight at 147 lbs, Mayweather continually was able to just shoulder and then pushoff on Marquez.......those tactics would not have worked at 130 lbs as Mayweather would not have a strenghth advantage.

Been a Marquez fan for years.Seen him fight live three times. He was avoided for years.Personally I think he won the Norwood,John and both Pac fights. He had to become more agressive to get the big fights.Technically he was a thing of beauty to watch. Not to mention the heart of a true warrior. It wiill be a sad day when he retires.Think he still has a few good fights left.

You and I both my brother.......

......I believe that like yourself, you really had to have caught a few of JMM's fights on his rise to a title run to really appreciate and know why he was ducked all those years.

Anarci, if Marquez has come to the end of the line and does'nt have any big wins left in him.....I've been privaleged, proud, and honored to have witnessed his marvelous career.
Nothing that could happen in Marquez' future fights can take that away from me!:good

I agree:good However im not sure if he still has enough speed to take Kahn, although im guessing he does and will ko him once he gets thru.

Its just a speedy guy like Kahn might be all wrong for Marquez, If he is at least 85% though he should win.
