I don't think any of them last beyond the 10th round with a prime Joe Louis, and I seriously believe he could take them on a "bum-of-the-month" basis.

Most of them would be disposed of inside 6 rounds.

Agreed. Ezzard is probably the only one that I'd realistically expect to give him a good fight and its no given. This is assuming we're talking about the Joe Louis from 1937 to 1942

... and the 32-year-old Charles of 1954 was had become a bit static, less mobile than the 1949-50 version.

    You put him in with a sharp 24- or 25-year-old Louis, I think he's getting KO'd around mid-way through a 15-rounder, if that !

Good point. I hadn't even considered that we'd be talking about a past prime Charles.

It's hard to compare when you think about it. Joe Louis wore 5 oz or 6 oz gloves so it's hard to say how hard he really hit compared to the guys later on that were able to KO at even a higher percentage ratio using 8 oz and 10 oz gloves. I think even Foreman wore some 8 oz gloves in the early 70's. By 1980 all HW's had to use 10 oz gloves so Tyson's KO percentage with 10 oz gloves is even more impressive. I couldn't imagine guys like Tyson and Foreman using 6 oz gloves. They probably would have killed a few guys or the very least caused permanent brain damage.

Joe Louis would be favored in these fights, but I also think he has a greater chance of losing one of them than Marciano.

If Joe had fought the same people that Rocky fought at the same time, he would have dropped a few.

Hypothetical..... Same Opponents.... Rocky 49-0-43 Louis 47-2-36

Walcott always gives Joe problems.. prime or no prime. Just the reality of the matchup. Saying otherwise is being disingenuous

It depends on what we mean by " always gives Joe Problems." If you mean that the Joe Louis of 1937 vs the Joe Walcott of 1947 would be the same fight then I'd disagree. It wouldn't be disingenuous to say that Louis could have done a similar job on him only sooner and with a bit less drama.

What would Joes record look like if he fought the exact same people?

Does anyone think he would match 49-0-43?

More certainly, he'd knock Walcott out.
And it wouldn't take him 11 rounds.

    Fuccking insane.

If Louis gets the same sort of luck Marciano received (i.e. the Lowry and LaStarza nods, not getting stopped by cut against Charles), he steamrolls almost all of his opposition. For the vast majority of his career, Marciano was a merely a Northeast circuit fighter, fighting almost exclusively in Rhode Island. Only ten of his bouts were outside the comforts of New England and only three outside the greater Northeast. He had a pretty greased track career in that regard.

Of the select remaining fighters, Walcott, Charles, Moore, he stomps them.

Destroys all those guys but he didn't destroy scheming I Farr Godoy I Conn Pastor... And Braddock galento Baer all badly hurt him

Moore Walcott Charles are better than most of those men..expect one of those men to trouble him big time before he gets the win

No way Louis goes through all those guys easily when he struggled with far inferior fighters

Funny how Charles Walcott Moore lastarza Layne all go so easily yet Louis was hurt/floored/taken the distance by less fighters

You talk about Lowry and lastarza. What about Godoy I? Just as much controversy in that decision. Wiater fight was extremely close. He also let Farr take him the distance and win quite a few rounds. Walcott definitely beat him in 47. Pastor gave him trouble in first fight. Conn nearly beat him..was conn better than jersey Joe Walcott Archie Moore and eZard Charles?

Louis at his best beats all of them by knockout but he wasn't always at his best...he got floored a lot ..Archie moores right hand could easily put Louis on his ass if he gets caught napping
