Stevenson ducked the Kovalev fight his entire career and then misjudged Gvozdyk, deciding to fight him, and taking a savage beating. That fight was proof of the result had Adonis fought Krusher.

Kovalev's jab against Canelo was also proof that he threw that fight. The jab is the safest punch in boxing, especially the way Kovalev threw it in all of his other fights - with authority, yet he used a pawing jab against Canelo for no reason at all - some Canelo nuthuggers were saying it was because he was scared of the counters. If he lands that jab, there are no counters, and he threw the jab in a technically correct way to avoid dangerous counters.

Kovalev was clearly the best LHW of his era. The Ward robberies were an injustice that deserved Ward fighting Beterbiev, but Ward retired like the true Son of Butting (SoB) that he was. A completely concocted career with completely one-sided refereeing and judging. Ward was inferior to Kovalev, Calzaghe, and Kessler, just to name a few.

Beterbiev however, has shown himself to be a very unique beast. Kovalev was a very good boxer, but can Kovalev keep Arthur off him with the jab? If not, Beterbiev gets inside and the rest is history. An absolute prime Kovalev may have a chance, but anything outside that goes to Beterbiev, who has a more statistically successful style for this matchup.

Therefore I am favouring Beterbiev, but could accept that Kovalev could win.
