Wlad's chin/punch resistance is pretty weird. Not helped by the fact he probably fought more big punchers than anyone else ever has. He has been knocked down 14 times but he has come close to being down for the count while fighters with supposedly better chins have multiple times. Also absorbed the punches better at 41 than when he was younger.
Yep. And that’s pretty cool to see in all honesty. Because there was definitely some heat between Lewis and The K-bros for a bit. Lasted to around 2009-2010. Nothing that serious but you could just hear it in some of Lewis’ comments. Like when he was making some noise about coming back and fighting Wlad around 2007-2008 after a couple of enticing offers were thrown his way. But Lewis used some sense and decided that wouldn’t be too wise. Lol ESPECIALLY around that time! That was Wlad at his peak. But the respect has always been there. Even at the post fight press conference of Vitali vs Lewis, Lennox was saying how he actually thinks Wladimir was better.
Don't know if a Wlad in his 20s takes the bombs he did vs AJ. I think there were other factors but his punch resistance did look more sturdy to me.
Just revisiting this thread and cant believe what i am seeing. Wlad 78 Lewis 73 The world has gone mad
Or they just have different opinion than you in the hypothetical match ups which will never be disproved either way.
Lewis nukes him. Wlad needed the jab to work from Lewis used it and well, but he had other weapons. In close Lewis's uppercut is turning Wlad's light out.
Correct.....and from reading many opinions on here tells me who should be banned from hypothetical match up polls....lol
It seems like you DKSAB, you're talking like a casual who's hardly seen any Wlad fights. Wladimir is one of the all-time great heavyweights with one of the great and most dominant runs in the division's history A tremendous fighter, you have to be special to win an Olympic Gold at super heavyweight aged just 20, and have such a long dominant reign as heavyweight champion. He would be a tough fight for ANYONE, and he would have a chance against ANYONE. Wlad does most things that Lewis did better, other than the uppercut, and adversity. Wlad is the better all round boxer. Wlad most definitely has a realistic chance of winning.
Never said he didn't have a chance of winning. Wasn't much of an era when Wlad was dominating.....who was he beating in his prime? Ps ur a member who just joined yesterday????? ?
People talk like Lewis is unbeatable , when he was knocked out by Rahman and Mccall, was losing on points to Vitali only getting the 'win' because of a cut, and probably should have a loss to Mercer (who Wlad destroyed like he was nothing). It's not like there's no blueprint to beat Lewis.
