Thats because nobody wanted to give him one, plus Margarito is the type of fighter that rises to the occasion when it comes to big fights. Its not like Margo was anobody prior to this fight. When was Hearns willing to take punches to land them aside from the Hagler fight? Normally he very rarely got hit clean, even while on the attack, because of his huge height and reach advantages, and his agility which would allow him to lean back off return fire.
nobody gave him one because he fought nobody! beating people up but not beating a fighter who is a stepping stone to A grade fighters doesn't give you a meal ticket. at the end of the day cotto deserves HUGE props for taking this fight when he didn't need it. antonio did and it put him in a totally different negotiating position. next time you want to say "nobody wanted to fight this guy", take a deep look at their resume and then break it down..... it might not be their fault, but it's still relevent.

I think some of the people here are underestimating Hearns overall speed he moved his body very well being so tall.. Margo probably has about half the speed of body that Hearns had.. he fights flatfooted.. Hearns could learn back out of the way.. Hearns also had a good body attack and with a longer reach and a slight height advantage over Margo he would win. Margos chin can only take him sofar but it wont take him far enough against a fighter with the offensive arsenal and the skillful and smart defense of a prime Hearns.
When Hearns beat Cuevas he was an up and comer. Cuevas was a little over the hill. Not to mention much smaller than Hearns. Styles makes fights, just like u say. Margo has a better style against Hearns. He is just as tall and big. If Margo can just keep the pressure on Hearns so he wont unload that monster right, I am pretty sure Margo has a chance of surviving.
The way he KTFO Duran, you have to believe he could KO any man at that weight. Hearns was way too skilled and even if he couldn't KO Margo he should win by decision.

With a 2 inch height and 5 inch reach advantage Hearns could work it from the outside. The question should be would Margarito be willing to take shots on the way in to delver his own. The Mexixcan does not deal well with men his own height or taller.
