Ali wins this one. His speed and reflexes would be too much for Holmes who was began to get fustrated by an old, handicapped ali in round 7. He simply wouldn't be able to keep up with ali who had the fastest feet of any heavyweight in history. Ali in that fight could talk but not fight so Holmes didn't have much to be concerned about. Ali in his prime, however, could talk AND fight. This would prove disatrous to Holmes because he would have to deal not only with ali's taunts but also his fighting ability, After a fairly competitive 5 rounds Ali would take over with superior hand speed, movement and ring generalship. He knew where he was at all times and knew how to turn it up when he wanted to. He would pull away more and more, winning the majority of the late rounds and emerge victorious by unanimous decision, about 10-5 or 9-6. Ali and 38 and ali at 24 was 2 vastly different fighters and holmes wouldn't be able to handle a young ali.
spoon did beat holmes and he fough tno rematch.. james smith? i will ignore this because i don´t hate you (for now), foreman is PROBABLY a better single win than any of larry´s? probably? mercer more than frazier?. seriously ...i don´t know if you are even serious or you are trolling or joking....
Norton who fought both men stated Ali punched harder than Holmes. In all categories Ali exceeds Holmes. Prime Ali beats Prime Holmes by wide decision win.
Tell us again why you would ignore clear first hand evidence that Ali hit harder than Holmes? Do you have evidence that Norton was lying? If not Kennys comment has to be taken as very valid.
Larry would give him trouble with the jab, but Ali prevails in a close, debateable decision. Ali was the greatest heavyweight ever. He had the things of a non-heavyweight: confidence, technique, ability to adapt, speed, etc.
