Yeah, I know. Done before; I don't feel like digging up a decent thread with a poll. Thoughts.

Gayweather barely won against past prime Hoya.

Oscar was a monster in 140s. That speed and power would have caught Floyd and put him out.

PBF was alot faster at 140 though! It would have been a Split then for PBF!

People seem to forget what Oscar was back in his day.

Definitely.. I got DLH by a couple of rounds aswell.. Mayweather can potshot, but wouldn't be active enough to walk away with a victory.

Whitaker was excessively negative in that fight, and Mayweather's defensive movement is nothing like his. Nothing.

That being said, I give Oscar a great chance. At 147 I favor Oscar, having the best combination of skills and physical ability, though his skills were quite fundamentally sound at 140 as well.

I actually think this will be a pretty good fight, not the dud we saw at 154. Mayweather won't be able to pot-shot against Oscar who is very tight defensively, working behind brilliant parry work that isn't easy to break through with single punches and two shots. You're going to have to work behind combinations or try and counter. Now Oscar being the offensive wizard that he is, you're going to have real trouble trying to take a win by countering when he's breaking through with his blazingly quick combinations that are packing serious power (at 140 he had some truly impressive artillery).

Oscar also had some pretty fancy footwork that he mainly used in a defensive capacity from his time with Rivero. Mayweather is really going to have to show his sometimes underrated offensive skills. He's going to have to get behind Oscar's piston like jab and then work with his combinations.

I'd pick Oscar to shine down the stretch and take a UD. I think you have the recipe for a very good fight though.
