Yes Holyfield doesn't hit as hard as Rocky but he had much faster hands then the Rock, great feet and lateral movement in his prime, he would move in and out of trouble as he did in there second fight which is the only one that he won lets not forget.. He was also a better combination puncher then the Rock in my eyes. I'm sure some of you who love Marciano may attack me for saying this but in my eyes Holyfield was just better then Marciano and Bowe beat Holyfield twice and the fight he did lose was a razor close decision. So in my eyes the only edge Rocky has over Holyfield that he brings to the table against Bowe is the fact that he is a bigger puncher.. I don't see him being able to KO Bowe or out box him for that matter which is why I favor Bowe...

Except Marciano doesnt box and move, and hes not 213 pounds. Hes a 185 pound in your face fighter. Bowe is a 240 pound in your face fighter. Styles, size, and ability all must be considered in these type of matchups, and its a recipe for disaster for the smaller Marciano. Sure he might be able to catch Bowe, but the most likely scenario is Bowe steamrolls him.

    I'm with you :good

Not sure it will be a mismatch but I feel very confident that Bowe would win..

Holyfield is a 190lb boxer when he is not on steroids.

Thats part of it. Part of it is also style, and size. Holy is 6'2 and utilizes a jab and more boxing.

Bowes style was to get hit a lot - That wont work against someone with an elite sized punch

Peak bowe was never 240. Bowe at 240 was that opened mouthed slob too tired to move out of shots. without checking, Im sure bowe weighed a tad under 220 early in his career when he trained.

well my point was that Holyfield engaged Bowe head to head, and he got the worst of it. He didn't have the power to exchange with a much bigger bowe, and he got hurt a lot in that first fight.
Marciano would have enough power to exchange with bowe. and naturally, marciano was stronger then holyfield.
plus you have to give marciano all the advantages that holyfield had. god knows what holyfield was using. He would be using modern benefits, and possibly steroids, if he was juicing.

Why can't Marciano move up in weight if Bert Cooper did it, if Haye did it, and if Holyfield did it?? He was a great athlete and could use the modern advantages to make 20 pounds of muscle.

I'm talking about when Holyfield went brawling with Bowe, he got ripped apart, Marciano would do better in exchanges then holyfield did. There is no doubt that Holyfield is more well rounded for moving and boxing, and throwing combinations then Marciano, but Marciano is much more suited for slugging then Holyfield. Which is exactly what he would do to beat Bowe.
Plus if Bowe got rocked by holyfield he will got rocked by rocky

    I'd slightly favor Bowe.
Would be hell of a fight though.

I'm not so sure, but I respect your opinion.. Mine is just that Holyfield stylistically is a tougher fight for Bowe then Marciano..

I think that Bowe is being given a little to much on trust here.

Outside of Holyfield his list of oponents leaves as many questions unanswered as answered.

Well that wasnt the question of this thread. It was posing a match against the 185 pound version of Marciano vs the 235 pound Bowe. I would also question that Marciano could punch as hard as Holyfield. Holyfield dropped fighters that had not been put down by much bigger punchers, so maybe we could say Bowe had a very good chin when he was in shape, thats my belief, and thats why Bowe was dropped and hurt badly in the third fight by that short hook, because he wasnt in top shape. One thing about Holyfield is when opponents engaged him, he almost always found that opening to hurt them, whether it was Mercer, Tyson or Bowe.

One of the unanswered questions that I alude to in my above post is whether Marcianos power would prove to be a critical stylistic difference.
