Prime Rigo would have dominated present day Inoue

Nah, Donaire was way too trigger happy at the time.
He relied too heavily on his power and it showed during his 122lb run.
He used to be quite slick, but suddenly it was all about sitting down on his punches.

Yeah, can't see Rigo dominating Inoue here. It should be mentioned that Donaire gas always been a bit one dimensional, in that he purely relies on an opponent coming to him. Sure, he wasn't completely like this at 112, but by 122, he just had that distinct stylistic weakness. A weakness Rigo was literally perfect to exploit. Donaire is a laid-back counter puncher, whereas Inoue is an aggressive powerhouse. I really think those small half steps, and that shifting pressure to get around the lead leg and go to the body would be awful for Rigo. Especially considering Rigo's chin is pretty suspect.

Although I'd definitely wager Rigo hit harder than Donaire, and if he lands on Inoue as often as Donaire did, I don't think he can take it.

 

Inoue wins v Rigo @ any time,, I just think Inoue all wrong for Rigo.

 

I shudder to think what a prime El Terriblé would do to Rigo.

 

Have we seen Inoue fight any negative caution first defensive fighters yet though?

 

At his best, Rigondeaux was horrible to fight. Quick, spiteful, and gave you next to nothin' to work with. Can't argue with him being favoured over Inoue (at the moment at least). But, Inoue is not Donaire. He's a more natural attacker, better at creating opportunities, could be a more precise puncher, and has the better straight right.

Certainly wouldn't spit beer seeing Rigo on the deck.
