http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEV9dyIYwI4 Here's Kostya handling Vernon Forrest pretty damn easy in the amateurs.
If I could answer that I could tell you why Junior Jones was so tough for MAB, why Ken Norton was so tough for Ali. It's just a matchup thing.
Oh you mean why do I think he would have won? Because Ricky was hitting, holding, going low, elbowing... it was more of a wrestling match than a boxing match and I think that contributed heavily to KT gassing at the end. He wouldn't have gotten away with NEARLY as much in Vegas. I don't hate Ricky, I just think KT is a class or two above him as a fighter and I hated seeing him go out like that. That could have and imho should have been a win for him.
i thought you were gonna go the old bent referee let hatton get away with murder thing. at the time it was the only reason some could give as to why this young pale upstart from hyde had managed to beat a true great into quitting.
I think Hatton would have beaten Kostya anywhere that night. There was a lot of pent up frustration having been forced to wait so long for a big opportunity that it all came out - and Tszyu had no answer. I don't accept the whole low blow thing, and yes, whilst a point (or two maybe) should have been deducted the outcome wouldn't have been much different. It must be said that Tszyu wasn't exactly an angel in there either. On a prime vs prime H2H matchup I would have it as a 50-50 affair with Tszyu a slight favourite - based upon the stylistic advantages that Ricky possesses. Obviously on an ATG 140lb rating, Tszyu would be top 5 easily, whilst Hatton would scrape the top 10 at around 9 IMO.
that vid is great, he looks like pbf in there. i had the pleasure of seeing tszyu knock mitchells ass out live. that was a treat.
