Prime Tua KO2 Prime Frazier. Discuss.

A very difficult winner to pick as both are evenly matched I will go with Frazier by decision as Tua will run out of ideas if he dosen't nail Frazier early (i.e Ike Ibeauchuichi fight!).

 

Tua could nail Frazier at any time of the fight. (i.e. Fres Oquendo , David Izon , Oleg Maskaev). Ibeabuchi and Byrd didn't beat Tua. He only lost to Lewis in an obvious mismatch , and even then was not badly hurt.

 

When did Frazier KO Bugner in 2 rounds? I am sure Frazier won on points.

he won 1 decision which was close . shows how faded ,

Frazier on points or late rd stoppage. Smokin Joe would have some shaky moments early. But, please Tua is no Foreman ! Only Forman could put Frazier away and he couldn`t even keep him on the deck. Frazier after a slow start, would get right up in Tua`s grill and start working on that ample Tua body. His workrate was far superior to Tua`s, and I think he`d slowly grind him down. Tu would make the mistake of thinking he could work with frazier inside, and that would prove to be his undoing. Plus Frazier would want it more than Tua. Some made the good point of Byrd hurting Tua to the body. That would be a massage compared to Frazier digging downstairs on Tua. Foreman was big, strong and had the big height and reach advantage going for him. And without question was a better finisher tha Tua. Close fight early, then from the 3rd on, all `Smokin` Joe. We are talking bout the `71` edition Frazier, one tough nut...

 

Tua is one of the most over rated fighters on this site.

He might just have the hardest left hook in the history of the sport, but power on its own is not worth twop buckets of warm spit. If you need any proof of this, he probably hits as hard now as he ever did, and look at the fighters that are beating him and taking him the distance.

 

Joe smokes Tua, Tua is several notches below Joe skill wise.

Its basicaly the sort of chance that Luis Firpo had against Jack Dempsey.

Frazier might just run into a punch.

 

Two of my favorite fighters. You don't know what I'd give to see these two trade left hooks in the center of the ring. I think you guys have basically covered every possible outcome for this fight. It's true that David Tua is no George Foreman, but the power in his hook is similar to getting clubbed by a Foreman blow. I'm sure Foreman hits harder, but it's close. Tua isn't far behind.

No doubt Tua drops Frazier once or twice in the bout, most likely early on, just like Oscar Bonavena or George Foreman. If the ref doesn't stop it, or if Joe recovers quick enough, he'll bruise his way to a decision win. Frazier works the body, and Tua absolutely hated getting hit in the ribs, chest, etc. Chris Bryd shut him down completely.

I think Frazier wins this after a long battle, but it wouldn't surprise me if Tua knocks him out somewhere. Tua carries his power throughout the whole fight and could end things at any time. Tua is a dangerous puncher, and if he decks Frazier enough times, the fight will be stopped.

But if we're talking prime versus prime, this would certainly be a war. David Tua (1995-1997) was absolutely ruthless. Lou Duva was constantly comparing him to Rocky Marciano. David obviously believed the hype, but after the Ike Ibeabuchi fight, he was never the same. That loss really hurt his pride.

Prime Frazier was probably between 1968-1971 in my opinion, and he had the heart of a warrior. Nothing could stop him from hurting you. He's a guy who grunted when he struck you. Honestly, I think Frazier beats an untested prime David Tua, but Tua can always surprise you with his power. But I'd give it to Joe if I were forced to pick.
