We don't know more about Ike because he went to jail ... up to that point he was exceptional ... and I believe Tua deserved the decision in their fight ... Rachman may have dropped Tua but if he went down it was from exhaustion as he was way too heavy for that fight ... in addition, Rachman was a big man who could hit ...
I thought Ike's win over Tua was clear as day. I am stunned that so many feel Tua won to be honest. Very competitive, but I thought Ike clearly took the majority of the rounds with his higher workrate.
Tua was getting smoked handily over the first 7-8 rounds. He couldn't get off with anything, far less land punches. And when he did start to get into gear he was impressive, mainly with the left hook. Thats always been Tua's problem, he relied too much on his left hook.
Can we get a ban on this needle dicked douchebag already? He's done nothing but spout hateful bull**** since he first posted here as Dave Krieg. I think a lifetime ban is in order, hopefully that will keep this scumbag out for good.
Classy response to the last. Did I mention the Tyson of the McBride or Douglas or Williams fights, no. Surely when you're comparing fighters its the prime versions (ie: in Tyson's case from Berbick through Spinks). I stated how I think Tua (on another thread) and Tyson would both beat Foreman from a stylistic viewpoint and how I felt Foreman was an overrated force head to head. I know it's straying a bit from "Tyson vs Tua" but instead of responding with some slanging nonsense you could at least make a reasoned opinion on why you disagree.
Holmes Jab. If you claim Tyson could beat Foreman, fine. Even though i don't believe it. But Tua? Why could Tua beat Foreman? In what way is Tua a bad style match up for a 1973 Foreman? Tua is just a heavier but slower Frazier who relies on his left hook. Tua has a better chin than Joe, but so did Chuvalo and he got stopped.
One thing is for sure and that is that Tyson would have to fight a smart, controlled fight ... none of the balls to the wall go for the kill from minute one or Tua could hurt him ... if Tyson jabbed, bobbed, weaver and picked his spots he could outwork Tua ... if he went full scale for the KO like he did against a Pinklon Thomas or Frank Bruno it could be a very different fight as Tua is exceptionally strong, tough, hard hitting and pretty fast himself ...
I just think he a bad matchup head to head for Foreman. This is nothing to do with their all-time standing, just styles. Tua is a strong, powerful, heavy hitting, granite chinned guy who had underrated fundamentals and started fast. Tua would wrek hovok on the inside, and he would get there Foreman neither has the fundemental skills nor the defence to keep him at bay for the whole fight. He runs out of steam approaching the later rounds and gets nailed repetedly until the ref stops it. Of course Foreman could stop him early, but I don't think he would.
Tyson had power and speed, Tua had the better stamina and late power but Tyson will make him work early and possibly get him out of there before 7-8 rds
Young Mike Tyson had just as much stamina as Tua and his power output didn't change that much in the later rounds. I think a fight between Tyson and Tua wouldn't go the distance but there would be knockdowns by both fighters. Tyson via KO inside 10 rounds.
I could see Tyson winning a decision over 10 or 12 rounds, but he's have to be at his absolute best to do it. The Tyson who fought anytime post Douglas, might very well have lost to a peak David Tua.
A prime Holmes ('78-'83) would've beaten '88 Mega Tyson (TM), tough fight, but Larry UD all the way baby.
I like Tyson all the way. Tyson in his prime, was a skilled fast pressure fighter. Had great combinations, and threw with speed and power. Tua is too one-dimensional. He had a good chin, and a good ko puch(when he could land it). Tyson had a sturdy chin, and he`d be too much of everything for tua. Tyson UD, or a 8-9th rd stoppage.
