phillips was an underrated boxer, had a high punch out put, decent dig and was relentless the man had good punch resistance, how does the phillips who turned up against kostay tyszu do against the hatton who turned up against tyszu in 2005? hatton was relentless had good power and could suffocate his opponents on the inside, i didnt really like hattons style of constant holding but it was effective and allowed him to set up effective blows on the inside so who wins
tough one, i agree phillips was massively under rated. hatton said before facing mayweather that phillips was the hardest man he ever faced. although hatton is one of my personal favorite fighters i think phillips would have been to strong in earlier years.
Hatton would still gut out a win IMO. But it would of been no shut out. Hatton had a consistency to his work at his best, Phillips was flaky, even in his beating Tszyu pomp. Hatton on a close Unanimous nod in Britain; Hatton on a split nod in the States.
i knew they fought wanker, during rickys wbu defence, i was just wondering how a slightly less aged version of phillips would have performed
He buzzed the fcuk out of Hatton with an uppercut in that fight, youd think a prime version might have made better use of the oportunity but then again maybe he wouldnt have gotten the chance. I dont know really, would be a good fight either way. Definately would get your moneys worth
Seems to me, if you were aware of their bout, its something you'd have maybe mentioned in your opening post, even if it was to discredit Ricky's win. I stand by my presumtions.....
