Prime: Wladimir Klitschko .Vs. Frank Bruno

Wlad is very skilled both mentally and physically in terms of controlling the pace of a fight. I think he would stop Bruno inside 10 rounds. Bruno would need to land his best stuff early as his stamina in the later rounds was suspect.

And yet he was out-jabbed by Mercer, Bruno and Vitaly. His jab is not in top 10 for sure. I can name at least 10 from top of my had who would beat Lennox in Jab match. Wlad is one of them.

 

Lewis' jab is very good and forceful and compliments the other parts of his arsenal. Wlad's jab iis one of the best the division has ever seen, so good that combined with his reluctance to mix it up we hardly ever see more of his arsenal.

 

He wasnt outjabbed by Mercer, he was pulled into a firefight. He was getting outjabbed by Bruno, but his technique improved as Wlads did under Steward. Id say Wlads jab is better than Lewis was now, but Wlad doesnt have the same intangibles that Lewis had in other departments.

 

Alright I can give you the Mercer fight because ring was very small. But Vitaly outjabed him. Tacker had success in some episodes. Hell Grant was effective until Lewis got bored and banged the living **** out of him.

 

How the hell was Grant effective :huh That's like saying WALDO was effective against Sanders.

I've always said Bruno would have a great chance of beating WALDO and I stick by that, yes he had stamina issues but so does WALDO, and Bruno definately had the better chin of the two, and hit at least as hard as WALDO does.

Put Frank Bruno in todays crappy division and he'd go through it like a knife through butter, including VITLAY.

 

Agreed. I think Bruno has a good chance against Vitali. I think wlad beats bruno though because Wlad actually has skills, a jab, and can knock a man out with both fists. I can see wlad fighting conservatively and stopping a tired bruno around round 11.

Wlad has more advantages over Bruno then otherwise. Bruno has Chin and uppercut over Wlad. Wlad has everything else including speed, power, size, accuracy, left hook, ring IQ, footwork even not comparable. If Bruno had Stewart in his corner he could have progressed but he didn't, hell if he had Stewart he even would have a chance against tyson.

Problem is, Bruno in his later career also learnt to fight conservatively....it's a close fight as I see it but I lean towards Frank due to WALDOS crap chin. I tell you one thing, WALDO would not win the jab battle in this fight, it'd be 50-50 all the way, Bruno had a great jab, and the size and strength to really mess WALDO up, he was a very strong guy.

 

If Wlad has a panic Attack like he did against Purrity, Brewster, and Peter...then he is done like dinner.

 

WALDO does not have speed or power advantages in this fight, not a chance. Nor does he have the left hook advantage, Bruno had a tremendous left hook, he rocked Tyson with that very shot in 1989 when they fought, WALDOS big left hook claim is KO'ing that bum Austin :rofl

I'd love to hear why WALDOS footwork is so good too, Klitschko lovers like to bring this up from time to time about both the brothers, yet I don't see it. It's easy to have good footwork when you're constantly walking down bums. Good footwork to me is someone like prime Tyson who always managed to get in range and do maximum damage and still be quick enough to get out again before he got hurt. Obviously Ali was also a great example....neither Klit brother is though.

 

People seriously underestimate Bruno due to him having 5 losses on his record....but just look at those losses for a second. Smith, Tyson (x2) Lewis and Witherspoon. Some great fighters there, and he was always stopped on his feet yet was constantly accused of being glass chinned :huh Yet the WALDO fans claim their guy has a decent chin because he always gets up when he's been on the canvas (what is it, 13 times now?)

Certain people also bang on about Brunos stamina too, this is also bollocks - only 1 of his losses as I recall was down to stamina and that was the Witherspoon one, when he was still a pretty green 25 year old and was actually way ahead on the cards when he got stopped (in Klit-ite terms this is a win, by the way)

I was never a big Frank Bruno fan by the way...his "big dumb nice guy" act always got on my ****ing tits if the truth be told and the real truth about him came out later as I suspected it would. However you cannot dismiss him as a challenger against the current crop, he'd beat them all in my opinion.

 

Yes he have. Wlad neve fought Tyson and never landed a left hook on him. I know that Tyson is favorite in this matchup though. He Kod Chambers cold who has pretty good jaw(the shot was to the temple though). Wlad also have big advantage in snapping left hook from the jab.
I know that nothing of this will make any sense to you because you are clearly blinded with hate towards Wlad.
About Footwork
Vitaly has good footwork. He keeps his opponents at bay at moves out of attack line very good and always at position to throw back.
Wlad has great footwork that made many fights for him easy. Much like Hearns he is mirroring his opponents and keeping them at the end of his jab. He sets his punches with it very well. Chambers is not a world beater or a monster of some kind but he has pretty fast hands. Wlad was able to complete his attack and move out before Chambers could land anything. I doubt that to many fighters would spent 12 rounds almost untouched by fast handed opponent.
Your comparison to Tyson have nothing behind it.
2 completely different fighters with different body build. Tyson HAD to get inside to cause damage. Wlad has to keep at bay his opponents to gain more advantage. Wlad moves VERY fast and I mean VERY.
Not to mention that his left hand is much stronger and accurate then Bruno. Even holyfield who sparred with wlad in 90s said that he never saw better left hand.

 

Actually it was Bruno who has the self confidence issues. He even saw a sports psychologists on the topic.

If you think Wlad had a panic attack vs Purrity, you have not seen that match. in truth, Wlad has good mental resolve. Coming back from KO losses and ascending to the top is not easy in boxing.
