:good VLAD never takes this many shots ! And ask yourself this ? do you think LL would taker that many shots from VLAD ? LL was the much easier man to hit which is not good when faced with VLADS firepower ! Id still pick LL on some fighting intangables but certainly not on boxing skill superiority !:good
Lol I knew this would be the counter argument lol, and teh reason being that Wlad doesnt take any shots like that is because he fights scared and stinks the place out and against inferior opposition than Lewis faced Wlad would be so scared against Lewis that he wouldnt be throwing too many right hands, just look how tentative Wlad was against the non threatening McCline in a very similar stink job until the uber scared fighter mcCline quit on his stool after getting hit once in the previous round an dgoing down so as not to get hit again. Lewis wouldnt give Wlad jabbing distance, he would close the gap and go for the uppercut, not box.
True Lead hook - yes. Close hook - NO! True  NO WAY! Wlad looks vulnerable against almost every puncher he faces! He gets bounced all over the place regularly! Compare how Wlad looked against Peter to how Lennox looked against Tua. True And Wlad has never faced anyone remotely as good as Lennox. Not even in the same ballpark. It's not Wlad's fault obvioulsy, but there is nobody around right now anywhere near as good as the Holyfield or Vitali that Lennox fought. Hell, there isn't even anyone as good as the Morrison or Mercer that Lennox fought!
:good I always respect your post DREX ! But LL always looked vulnerable when in withpunchers also ! And he was boxed on even terms more often then VLAD ! I also think you sligghtly overrate some of LL oponents and underrate some of VLADS ! ( but that is simply opinion ) Although I cant argue the rest of your statements ! Cheers ! :good
I know it's a different guy, but since there brothers they are quite similar...Vitali would have beaten LL if it wasn't for a BS stoppage. Of course LL wasn't in his prime at that time (that was his last match), and admittingly Vitali was better than Wlad. I still think it'd be a similar fight. Speaking of Vitali...I hope like hell he makes it back this time!
:smoke He looked pretty vulnerable against ROCK and the ROCK smoker ! :yep And he did always look vulnerable ! :good PS i cant remeber VLAD getting starched by single shots ! remember both have strenths and weaknesses that manafested under different circumstances and opponents ! But both a very comparable !
:yep So a good defence is simply fighting scared to you ?? I could rip this apart but i wont bother since you seem like a decent chap ! Cheers ! :yep
The Mercer fight was close-ish but Lewis won it clearly, same thing with the 2nd Holyfield fight. Yes WALD dominated Peter apart from 2 rounds but he got knocked down 3 times in the process. Lewis dominated a better opponent in Tua far easier. For every good win WALD has, Lewis has a better one - quality of competition means everything. Also WALD being on the canvas a dozen times against mostly bums doesn't exactly help his case.
I already posted on that, and debunked the myth of Lewis' great wins. Especially at this age, Wlad has is much more accomplished than Lewis was. Are we still pretending that Peter knocked Wlad down 3 times? Can't we, as adults... use the actual facts that every person knows? There was only one real knockdown in the Wlad vs Peter fight, and it wasn't even heavy knockdown. It was all kicked off from a punch to the back of the head, and Wlad lost his balance while moving backwards. In reality, the 10th round was the only round in the fight where Wlad was actually in any sort of danger. The haymaker to the back of the head, and the push down in round 5 were nothing. Also... I don't agree that Tua was better than Peter. I think that Peter would have beat Tua by decision. Tua was captivating because of his power, but he never actually accomplished anything huge, or had any really big wins. Never found out how to solve a jab. To be honest, the Toney that Peter embarrassed would probably have outboxed Tua. Wlad dominted Peter for 10 of 12 rounds... where Lewis fought on even terms throughout 12 rounds with Mercer. That is the point. Wlad was DOMINANT in all of his wins. Lewis was sometimes too... but sometimes he wasn't. They have both been stopped by lesser fighters, which I chalk up to being overconfident on both of their accounts. With as much talent as both of them had, things came really easy... and it would be easy to overlook your oppoenent and not prepare properly. However, what I do know is that Wlad is fighting all of the best fighters of his era. Lewis on the other hand, didn't fight any of the top 5 fighter of his era in their primes. Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Moorer and Foreman. Those were the top fighters in Lewis' era, and he didn't fight a single one of them while they were all in their prime. Foreman was old, but you know what I mean. I don't see how people can act like he was so dominant, when he didn't even fight the top 5 best fighters. Lewis wasn't even considered a real Champ until he beat Holyfield. After that he had a couple of wins over so-so competition, was knocked out by Rahman, beat Rahman to get his belt back, beat a completely washed up Tyson, and barely escaped his fight with Vitali. Not exactly a dominant Champion.
...Wlad looked in trouble, but all in all still won the fight quite clearly. Exactly this fact IMHO militates vor Wlad.
Widdow_Maker - you seem to be a good poster, but sometimes fall into the nuthugger category with some of your posts. I just want to ask you a few questions, more or less opinion on a couple things, do you feel Wlad has a weak chin? Let me remind you, he has been floored 11 times and TKO'd 3 times by 2 journeymen and a club fighter. Also, do you really believe Lewis wouldve been able to expose Wlads mental weakness, being the great champ he was?
1. No, I don't believe that Wlad has a weak chin. Other than his fight with Sanders (4 knockdowns), I don't think that any of them had to do with the actual punches just dropping him. Sanders could have done that to anyone had he landed those shots. He hit Wlad with a monster shot... Wlad was a bit buzzed, and had no idea what to do when hurt at that point in his career. He tried to fight his way out of trouble, and got nailed repeatedly. He used to put everything into his punches, and was caught a few times being off balance. 2 of the Peter knockdowns were bogus, and the last wasn't his chin. Other than those... it is just what I said, out of balance shots that he jumped right back up from. Against Brewster, he never even actually went down from a punch. He was given a standing 8 count after he took two HUGE Brewster left hooks, and stayed standing. I mean... these are the same left hooks that melted Golota, Krasniqi, ect... and Wlad took TWO in a row, flush and never went down. If you have a glass chin, you go down with shots like that. Just like the shot at the end of the 3rd against Peter... Wlad took it flush and didn't even blink. It was the same punch that looked like it killed Jeremy Williams. Sweeping left hook that landed right on the jaw. 2. I don't feel that Wlad has a mental weakness. So, I don't see how I could answer that question. I think that Wlad fights extremely smart... and doesn't get wreckless. Lewis was the same way for the most part. That fight would be a chess match. If EITHER of them tried to get wreckless, the other would take advantage make them pay. Wlad vs Lewis would not be any sort of slug fest. They would both be fighting smart, and safe. For good reason.
