Well Widdow doesnt think Peter really hurt Wlad that much in the fight, I personally thought Peter made Wlad look bad in that fight, showing all other fighters out there that Wlad has a hard time handling pressure/punches, if your willing take some bombs to land your own, you got decent chance of beating Wlad IMO.
What I actually said was in the context of this thread - prime V prime and that was obviously not Lewis's prime, and I also said it was a VERY suspect stoppage. I never said WALD was in his prime v Sanders but he did start out earlier and had had more fights than Lewis at that age.
That's because other than Sanders he's fought no-one capable of putting that plan into practice. You can pretend Lewis wasn't capable of it, a hell of a lot of people on this thread disagree.
If Peter made Wlad look bad, by winning two rounds... how bad did Wlad make Peter look for getting dominated for the other 10 rounds? Once again... it amazes me how people change the perception of fights by focusing on one event. Wlad getting knocked down, and then getting back up to dominate and win was THE BEST thing that could have happened to him. That is exactly what he needed at that point in his career. As we can see... he has got better and better since then. If you think that Peter had Wlad hurt all sorts of times in that fight... then you really must have had your "Sam Peter #1 fanboy" glasses on. The two bogus knockdowns in the 5th were nothing..... and the only time Wlad looked to be in trouble, was the 10th. As I said, it was the best thing that could have happened to him. At that point, he realized that he could fight through fights like that. He could trust Steward... he overcame the "Wlad has no stamina", and "Wlad can't win under pressure" monikers. I thought that it was a great win, and a very good performance.
Peter did wlad look a like normal best heavyweight. Ali and others was like him..once. Everyone has his own slopes..Sanders was more difficult fight Vitali klitchko, than Lennox Lewis was atleast a couple first rounds. Yes, i no Lennox was not prime...when you come older your punch power also prove a lot and i think Wladimir is in his prime now..if he lost a miserably, i admit i was wrong...
I think Lennox Lewis would win on points, perhaps a late TKO. A hard fight to predict. Both guys are big, skilled, and posess a great amount of power. Neither have a granite chin so it could end up in a KO either way. Two awesome fighters, would have been a great match up prime for prime.
Ok then, Samuel Peter, who is a total novice with no craft about him, not a fraction on Lewis' athletic ability, boxing ability or brain, who every time he swung at Wlad, he fell over.:hi: Lewis would force Wlad back, like he did the bigger, better brother, then he'd find the target often, and hard, and Wlad would look remarkably like Mike Grant.
Yeah, that's a "nice description" all right. Not even Gerry Cooney? No talent, and a gym fighter? Pedestrian? Give me a ****ing break.
The Toney fights tell you all you need to know about just good the win over Peter was. Toney took the shots far better than WALD did as well, didn't he? Of course it's all down to WALD not knowing what to do under pressure, nothing to do with the 'c' word :rofl
Wow, this thread again. Lewis wins by KO. Wlad's supporters are correct. Wlad has a lot of skills that on paper make him comparable to Lewis. However, the thing they don't mention is simple. Wlad is a boxer. Lewis was a fighter. Everyone says Lewis was a safety first fighter. Which really, is horse****. Later on in his career, he certainly fought for the percentages that much is true. But to do otherwise is stupid - or for young men.... anyone who has seen any of his fights prior to the Tua fight would know simply that if anything, Lewis was a right hand happy banger early on his career, who Steward turned into an excellent all round fighter. Lewis always had ability (as proven in the am's), but was very right hand happy early on, and until the McCall fight was happy to take a punch to give one. Watch him fight Ruddock. Excellent performance, very early on in his pro career. I just can't see Wlad winning unless it's a punchers chance. Lewis won't sit on the end of Wlads jab and be content losing a points decision. The fight goes like this. Lewis either gets a long way ahead on points, and coasts to a win - or he gets behind on points, and forces the issue and wins by stoppage. Just like he did at 37 against Vitlay.
that's a good and fair analysis although i think wlad would be slightly more competitive but lose by 3 or 4 pts.
