There will be no secret deals. That would be stupid. Oscar spoke like did because they were annoyed that they thought they would be losing money in being on SS and the embarrassment factor. His comments clearly showed he had little understanding of boxing in the UK through his comparison of Primetime to Showtime, not realising that for the most part Primetime is a subset of the SKY subscription base.

Ultimately it's about money. If for this bout SKY said to TK that they would like it to be on PPV they would of snatched their hand off.

Khan Bradley Jul 23rd COULD of been PPV. Around the time of the Maidana fight and immediately afterward there was hope that with some good work, the Khan-Bradley could be developed promotionally into doing well on PPV despite the early start. It started to unravel when the Bradley Alexander bout didn't really inspire things, then there was the Khan April 16th TBA situation..

Had Khan's April 16th bout been on Sky and been on par with the Maidana bout for entertainment it could very well have set the promotional foundation in order to do it.

 

Mayweather v Ortiz will def be on sky. No chance this will be on primetime. If they are doing a press conference in the UK and they want the maximum coverage possible they go with Sky.

Golden Boy wont rock the boat with Sky. There the only British station with the money to splash the cash on there major fights. Also when the big fights are made Sky always gets the rights to the fights and I cant see that changing.

Khan management team has messed his chances on Sky. It will be a case of Khan who on Sky as if Froch goes on to win the Super 6. Froch will be the one who will be the main PPV fighter on Sky along with Haye for as long as he decides to fight on for. There is always a way back for Khan with Sky but would they be willing to take another risk on Khan after what happend last time.

Schaefer is the biggest promotor in the world and so yes to a certain extent he can dictate terms and conditions to television networks.

I like Schaefers hardball with Sky, "If you turn your back on Khan, You turn your back on GBP", So the choice for sky is clear "you are with us or against us!". I think sky will cave in soon when they cant show any more GBP shows.
