Resume depends on a guy getting a title shot in the first place. It qualifies individuals to take part in a match up. How can you say resume doesn't count? Even the example you use Frazier vs Foreman, a look into Fraziers resume shows there were no more elite wins in him after the war he got through to beat Ali. Resume is a pretty good factor actually.
Not world class punchers either, especially Levinsky and Neusel.Lasky whom you meant ,had never beaten anyone of note when he faced Carnera. As I said Carnera could not cope with punchers.Something he management realised very early on and therefore kept him away from.Billy Duffy actually admitted it in conversation!
I'm glad you brought up Gastanaga. Here is a report of their fight. " Bout halted because of cuts ,but NYAC investigates whether it was a fraud and whether in fact both fighters were managed by Luis Sorisi ."
The Gastanaga fight was investigated because it was felt it might be a fraud, also both fighters were managed by Luis Sorisi
Cleveland Williams whom you dismiss ,lobbied for fights with contenders such as Folley and Champions Patterson and Johannson if they refuse to fight you, you don't get the resume! Catch22
We are talking Carnera H2H vs the various retired heavyweights YOU named. The resume of Carnera does not mean he would have beat any/most/all of these guys. Is that really too hard to grasp? Now you go the anti Foreman agenda (yet again) trying to take away credit by saying he had no elite wins left in him post Ali. Well if he wasn't fighting Ali and Foreman he may well have had. Foreman is his stylistic nightmare and Ali is simply Ali. The record shows Frazier had never been beaten and very few fighters had even managed to hear the final against him. Perhaps George's decimation ruined him. It was only his 30th fight.
He was absolutely protected and coddled on the way up. His handlers didn't want to upset a future meal ticket early. Overall his resume has a lot of filler. But some marginal to decent victories in Maloney, KO christner, Neusal and some decent wins over Uzcudun, Loughran, and a good win if legit over Sharkey. He got destroyed by Baer and Louis (no shame in that) he was never close to their level. I'd have to think who I would pick him over in a lineal sense but off top my head I would say he has good chance to beat Braddock, Burns, Leon spinks and a few alphabet holders. His case I will say is do a more in depth look. It is an interesting study.
This is a reasonable stance to take. Calling him a great superheavyweight as has been said in the last few days here, is definitely not a reasonable stance to take, in fact it is an absurd one.
