'Prince' Naseem Hamed

Naseem was NOT a great fighter. He was spoon fed a series of opponents who were either SMALLER (forced to move up in weight to fight naseem), or old fighters who were once good and thus had name recognition. Or sometimes old fighters who were ALSO forced to move up in weight.

Like all of the creations of Frank "The Con Man" Warren, naseem was mostly a fraud. The first time he fought a great fighter who was a) in his prime, and b) naseem's size, instead of being naturally smaller, like most of naseem's opponents, naseem got whipped like a school boy.

 

I agree. Hamed was a clown. Damn shame too because he was exciting to watch... Up until MAB had him flailing around like strung out teenager on ecstacy.

 

Hamed are a very good fighter. He went down hill when he changed trainers, just like Freitas. He was quick, could throw from all angles, had tons of power. One of my favorite fights was Hamed Vs. Kelly, watch it, it was awesome.

If Naseem had fought Barrera right after he beat Steve Robinson, I think we would see a different outcome, or at least, a less one-sided match.

 

If Hamed has not change trainers he probably would have stopped Barrera! The same happened to Freitas. I like Suarez, but he tried to make a ballet dancer out of both Freitas and Hamed which was a good thing to do.

the info on boxing rec about hameds height is wrong he is and was 5'3 and barrera 5'6 with a 6 inch reach advantage

I agree i think hamed would have ko'd barrera had he stayed with ingle and focused i think making the money made him lazy he looked slower and just not fighting sharp against barerra

 

That Barrera of 2001 would whoop Hameds ass anytime, so keep dreaming fellas.

Hamed was effectively a bantamweight choosing to fight at a higher weight. Yet he was being fed smaller men? :huh
