Professional boxing is without the headguard. The amateurs will have a AIBA pro body. All it means is they can switch back and forth within the AIBA’s. (It’s misleading)

I would love to watch it if this was the case but it may be bad for future stars. Amature is often very boring, the system they had at the Athens Olympics made it exciting though. The Olympics may try to introduce this for the money. That's what they're all about now. The amount of people they made homeless at the China Olympics was a disgrace. I thought they had a policy of no country at war being allowed to host one too? Yet they're letting us. Billions of pounds should not get spent on making Olympic villages. The Olypics should be held in cities as they are with minor changes, billions should not be spent. Anyone seen the head of the Olympic body? Typical French wanker.
It's not pro's as in established pro's. It's pros in the new AIBA set up. Basically it currently goes, Boxer does well at the Olympics and then signs to turn pro with ****** or another promoter as the amateur Boxing association can't provide funding that would be enough to allow that boxer to stay amateur while having sufficient money to look after their family. An amateur probably gets around £15k a year lottery hand outs if they're top 3 in the County at their weight (unsure in Boxing, but this is the case for other Olympic sports) so the pull to move to the pro's is huge. From my understanding this new assoication will be a closed shop like UFC and pay salary's to their fighters. This will mean that Boxers can get decent funding, but stay eligible for future Olympics, Commonwealth Championships etc. It could be quite successful as only very few fighters make serious money turning pro so having security of a fixed yearly salary would be quite an incentive to stay under the AIBA.
