You nailed it. George threw his punches perfectly against Joe, his balance and stance as good as it ever would be for the big man. I have to give Sadler credit for both this and the Norton blowouts, he had George exactly as he should have been given his abilities.

I can't help but feel that the OP is engaged in a severe case of nitpicking.

If prime Frazier gets prime Foreman into the late rounds, very realistic scenario, it's over for George.Luckily, he got a somewhat out of shape Joe, and did the damage. Great win, but that has to be mentioned.

I think alot of us agree with you Titan, and Joe wasn't the same rock hard fighter he was going into Ali 1. Could have Joe ever made it out of the first three rounds against the prime George might be the question.

You know what really pizzed me off about Hearns-Duran? Hearns threw right hands and Duran fell down. It's always nagged at me.

I'm surprised that so many people seem unwilling to acknowledge that Foreman got away with excessive fouling in a way that further undermined Frazier's chances of giving him a competitive fight.

I see this fight very differently .. I think this is Foreman's finest fight .. he is calm and focused .. He is not at all wild compared to Ali, Rpman and even Norton. He looked fast and crisp to me .. I be hardly see Frazier land a glove on him .. and George's power is frightening ..

Thank you! they keep saying Foreman would still have beaten George. That's totally irrelevant to my point. My point was that the Mercante let Foreman get away with illegal tactics. When they say, "Foreman still would've won anyways.", they act like that completely excuses what Foreman did and made it perfectly legal.

I agree 100% though this is irrelevant to the thread.

Late rounds? Do you people have any idea the brutal beat down Frazier would need to endure to get into the later rounds vs Foreman? No fighter could take those punches for long. Joe fought in Georges wheelhouse where any single blow could knock him down or put him in serious trouble. Only on ESB is this great win in any way questioned.

I know most fighters will bend the rules, **** happens, but I agree that the pushing hurt Frazier's already slim chance of winning.

Foreman did use a hard jab though to maintain distance and do damage (George had a thunderous jab). Go to the 0:25 mark and you'll see the jab (and pushing) help set up the first KD.

Well Frazier was an undefeated Champion who had fought a certain way his whole career. Joe had started fighting tough guys around his 12th pro fight.
I don`t think anyone realized just how powerful Foreman was. On some level they knew he was a big strong kid but Eddie and Yank believed that Joe would break him down as he had so many other fighters.
Frazier was able to wear down bigger fighters and they sticking with that plan. Eddie Futch did say later that he didn`t expect Foreman to be able to push Joe so effectively.

Yep. Same tactics and strategy as the Stander fight. Just what does George have in common with Joe's previous opponents in his recent form Stander and Daniels? Even back then, history had shown watch out for the young undeated pedigreed guy fighting the old champ.

Thinking and planning on seeing George crumble was questionable at best. How? and that's strictly talking offense and not bothering with defense. and that's pretty much how it played out. I know which corner did the superior job and did their homework. And it sure wasn't the champions corner, was it? I sure don't give them a get out of jail free card for their pre-fight preperations.

Correct. Horrible planning by Joe's corner. They just felt Joe would wear George down.
It's like they didn't even study George at all.

Even your sister will beat you at least once in 1000 fights. Might get a lucky punch in, cause a cut or burst an eardrum.
