No, he is not an idiot. Rematch = more money! More money = therapy! Therapy = cocaine! But seriously, this is a business. The reason Oscar and Floy mention a rematch is because if the money is there, they will take it. Don't be fool by the whole championship thing. :rasta
:rofl:rofl:rofl class by wolak! Dirrell shouldn't ever complain about bad sportsmanship. Arthur Abraham, would probably give me right
It's hard to criticise what Mayweather pulled but he is still a classless *****. That said, Ortiz is a ****ing idiot.
If I was Floyd with all his skills and genius, I would step up the tempo and make Ortiz understand that he messed with the wrong man. I wouldn't try to go down his level and cheap shot him. I'll school him so bad to make a testament, and then knock him out cold in the later rounds. Then during the interview, I would NOT explode on Merchant and instead clown him by saying something like "Hey I thought you always thought I was unexciting, what you say now, old man?" Then I will wait for that moment when Pac's name will be mentioned and challenge the hell out of the guy along the lines of "See what I just did to your sparring partner?". But hey, I have both an alpha male attitude and class. Clearly Floyd is lacking the latter. This is not a question of legality -- the headbutt was the illegal move. This is a question of class and arguing if this still a gentleman's sport.
one thing to consider is: being headbutt by a ****ing pitbull of a guy like ortiz - HURTS!!! floyd was cut inside and out his mouth- being headbutted in the mouth is enough to grant anybody a temporary lapse in judgement. im surprised floyd let him hug at all - i wouldve knee'd him in the nuts then and there. floyd waited for it to open to take his shot. i mean ortiz hugged, kissed, and then wanted more hugs- by then it was clear his focus was gone- he d checked out- and had no more blood on his mind. floyd however was clearly mad- but was composed enough to wait til time in to hit the ****er. thats the other way to look at it. for me- sure- i wouldve prepared floyd waited- and didnt do it- i wasnt satisfied it was cool. was it legal? yeah. i think one thing is- you cant criticise it too much , cos it was legal, and you cant commend it- cos it wasnt the noblest of acts. it is what it is. legal but unfair, like finding a wallet and not returning it, etc, etc. one thing though: if the roles were reversed- and ortiz had been the one to ko the p4p king- the forums here would be alight in celebration , and revelry- people would be saying **** floyd- he got what he deserved, ortiz was straight smart. i think floyds popularity has a big part to play in how the fight is perceived.
Been reading some columns from couple of pinoy sports analyst and their opinions were just embarrassing. The hate on Floyd is unreal.
I don't think anyone is debating whether the punch was legal or not as it was clear the fight had restarted and I don't many give much a damn about Ortiz who disgraced himself by trying to put a Benoit flying headbutt on Floyd in the middle of the fight because he was frustrated. I think it's just a moral point of lots of people not liking the fact that he sucker punched his opponent who was clearly not prepared to box on. sure there will be some people who are just making biased posts because they either like or dislike Floyd but for a lot I thin k it just comes down to plain morality. I have no problem with the result because it would have ended that way anyway or by a huge points decision. i just don't like the fact that he sucker punched him, boxing is meant to be a gentleman's sport, a violent one, but non the less a gentlemen's one. A lot of grass roots boxing is based on teaching kid's to respect each other and to be disciplined. Neither man showed a good lesson to the young fan's watching that night imo.
This is what should end all that cheap shot discussions. Also Canelo Alvarez said he would have done the same thing. Just because people don't like it doesn't mean it wasn't smart or the right thing to do.:deal
Thing is this, it would be true if floyd came out ortiz tried apologizing and he knocks him out. But it didnt go like that, he walked to ortiz, ortiz raises his hands to touch gloves, floyd nods at him like allright come here touch gloves, ortiz tries to step back and out of nowhere gets hit with a huge left hand hence suckerpunch, then he looks to cortez who isnt even paying attention and gets knocked out with the right. Him being friendly with ortiz first then knocking him out quickly with a suckerpunch to retaliate is what makes it so dirty imo.
. You don'T get it... The thing is, most of them (if not all) WOULD NOT have done that. They may repeat "protect yourself" hundred times... Truth is few of them would have done what Floyd did. LOw class cheap scum.
