If we had video we would have seen that Mayorga was a wide swinging, uncomposed fighter who was crude in every way. On top of that he took idiotic risks in fights and let power punchers take flush shots on his unprotected chin. And to top it all off, he smoked his way through training camp leading into big fights. Lets just face it, your method of analysis would have fallen on its heels in this example, I don't see any reason to pretend it wouldn't. Boxing is not a science. I hardly view things "blind eye", but also don't take "solid analysis" to be anything more than the best logical viewpoint that always stands within one good punch of falling a victim to the theatre of boxing.
I have heard the exact opposite, that Manny used to spar Valero a couple years back where he easily handled him. I honestly couldn't disagree more with the first part. I don't rate Valero anywhere nearly as high as I do Campbell. As for the second part, I don't think it really counts as anything more than a tune up fight over-hyped by the mythical power of Valero. No Mayorga is **** and yes he is slow..Besides the intimidation that he brought to the ring he had nothing..and he gasses worse than the old BJ Penn. True.. Also Valero has faster hands than Mayorga..He throws awkwardly but watch him throw straight punches, hes not that slow/Wide but not slow.

Mayorga actually has good timing with his loopy shots, at 147, did have pretty quick hands, even if a mess and lastly, he had a great chin and his stamina was well enough down there to matter. Valero does not have faster hands than the 147 Mayorga did, he's slow as ****, has no defence like Mayorga, but has a shaky chin on top of it. He's much better in skill, just because he's sloppy didn't mean he didn't have better tactics and coordination and make no mistake, Mayorga is NOT a skilled fighter, that just shows how incompetent Valero looks by comparison. Then we go to the intangibles, which Mayorga owns over. Mayorga wasn't struggling with glass jawed gate keeper level fighters like Valero has when he was in for his title bid, he was crushing those types of fighters. Pay attention. Let's get realistic here.
The fact that Mayorga took out Forrest twice just points out to the fact that Mayorga had the intangibles going for him like Intimidation, Chin, and Power. He didn't have much skills at all, this is a guy that has to wind his left hook up from a mile away to be able to throw it effectively, throws his right hand like hes throwing a baseball and has a non existent jab. The intangibles that Valero has stamina and power and who knows what his chin is made out of, but 1 thing is for sure - his stamina is freakish and he throws with power. Pretty much the same senario as Mayorga/Forrest with 1 big difference. Stylistically Forrest should have picked apart a wild Mayorga but he got his ass wupped. Pacquiao is not the "stylist" that Forrest was in anyway shape or form thus I expect Pacquiao to be in more risk with Valero than Forrest was with Mayorga!!! And because of that Pac deserves credit for taking on a all risk no reward in Valero. If he wins "oh tune up"...if he gets KTFO all hell is going to break loose with people shitting all over Pacquiao....

i think this is a good fight for pac to take because everyone else is busy. it's either he takes valero or soto. and with soto, you take on a guy who was already defeated by joan guzman so winning against him isn't really that big of a deal. valero on the other hand has never been defeated. however, i am by no means saying that valero will beat soto. i'm just saying that a valero fight makes sense for pac right now
