Psychology of boxing

    I'm a psychologist who works a lot with pro boxers. I am looking at writing a book about the psychology of boxing. The book will be a series of interviews looking at all areas of psychology in relation to boxing from the boxers and coaches perspective.

    Are there any boxers/coaches who you think would be of particular interest to interview and for people to read about??

    Dan Blackwell, not many lads his age are fully fledged journeymen, could be interesting imo.

    EDIT: In saying that Blackwell seems a bit dense so maybe not him lol

    Read the Joyce Carol Oates book about boxing. I think it is called "On Boxing"

    He would be an interesting case study: seemed to know a lot about psyching out opponents, but went completely over the edge when he fell for Steve Collins' "I done been hyp-mo-tized" parlor trick.

    Billy Nelson would be interesting to hear from. Peter Fury is always very interesting to listen to.

    Enzo and Joe Calzahge on father/ son relationships.

    Adam Booth and David Haye.

    Rob McCracken and Carl Froch.

    Jin McDonnell and James Degale, be interesting to hear from them as they hit a low after the Groves win over Degale. There were many calls for Degale to dump McDonnell but they stuck together and now seem on the verge of a title fight.

    Yes, Eubank getting psyched out by Collins would probably be worth including.

    What was bad about that, is Eubank I think got fined by the BBBofC for making a fair statement something like, "I'm not responsible if you get killed in the ring".

    Great call! I joined the ABA just after he won in Sydney and turned over so our paths didn't cross!! Interesting guy
