The level of Pulev's financial backing suggests a confident team who were determined to have this fight on home soil. However, whilst fearing the worst I'm going for Hughie on narrow points win. Really hope he does it, would be a great achievement and a fantastic away double for Peter Fury as trainer.
I remember listening to Johnny Nelson talk on a podcast about how he and Bellew actually sized him up (unknown to Hughie) a couple of years ago by shaking his hand and saying hello etc. They walked away saying ‘he’s a cruiserweight’. I thought the pair of them were daft for thinking that but maybe they had a point. He didn’t have that man power, he was padded out with timber that perhaps could have been boiled off at the time...I think he’s developing that now and I fancy him to catch Pulev in the late rounds for a famous win. Come on Hughie lad!!
Pulev by decision mainly to be this being in Bulgaria- I just don’t see Fury knocking him out. This is actually a very good fight on paper- maybe not as a spectacle but this is as close to 50/50 fight in the division as you can get. Channel 5 are marketing this as “Winner Faces Joshua Next” which is smart but I doubt Joshua faces either man in 2019.
Hughie UD. I think Pulev has to knock him out which he isn't capable of imo. This match is going under the radar a little. Winner gets Joshua right? It could very well be Joshua vs Hughie at Wembley in April...
It's Whyte in April. Don't get your hopes up for anyone else. That fight was made months and months ago.
Another worst fight of the year contender, beating sexton means nothing to me so I will go pulev on points in a stinker.
Do you know what, if that fight never got stopped i reckon Kassi would of knocked Hughie out...he was so gassed. But that was over 2 years ago now...Fury has improved loads and i see him beating Pulev by UD.
Only concern is the winner fights Joshua and that will be a huge payday for either man, not saying Hughie might get robbed but i cant see the judges doing him any favours.
Yes it is a very competitive fight. Id rather see competitive fights like this than all the mismatches we get these days like Jarrell Miller's fights who funnily enough turned down the chance to take this fight.
