Punch Stats and Score Card Analysis - Round by Round

Makes me laugh - cause I have an uncanny thought that you and I were poles apart on the Calzaghe vs B-Hop scorecard.

 

I think Calzaghe won the fight. Anyone who scores for Bhop had to give every close round to him and be very biased imo. Hops simply didn't do enough.

 

OK - we were very similar there too. I had Calzaghe winning 116-112 and the best I could come up with for Hopkins was 114-114.

 

shows us how the scorecards were legit and scored honestly. No corruption. Bradley threw punches and looked busy in many of those rounds and pacman did not.

 

reread the post, never said wlad would be in the phone booth with me which would make it impossible for either fighter to land. Whoever throws the most punches would win which according to the TS compubox thrown punches are the only thing significant.

 

Activity versus Effectiveness is a different argument, but in a fight that many consider a huge landslide win to Pacquaio - the actual punch stats tend to indicate it was a much closer fight than people like HBO indicated.

Besides, Wlad KO's you in 1 (punch) - Pacquaio, a feared power puncher apparently landed over 200 power punches on Bradley (previously dropped and heavily shaken in another fight) and yet Pacquaio had more welts and bruising on his face post fight than Bradley - hence me pointing out what many of us already knew about Compubox - they might be accurate in terms of activity but they're generally horribly inaccurate in terms of accuracy.

 

Not to mention the Cotto vs Floyd fight. Where Compubox suck huge elefant cok!

You could be busy all you want, you could pressure all you want but was it effective? Nah.

Pac controlled the fight, every aspect. Everytime he presured the fight, Bradley would duck and cover-run. He pressed the contact and ouf of 100 times Pac won 99 encounters as an example.

Compubox sucks and it could be corrupted and very bias as well since the human factor is who decides what lands and what not.

My recomendation for Championship fights would be:

3 X Judges selected and assigned as they do today.
2 X Additonal Judges, assigned 30 minutes before the actual fight event selected randomly from a pool of 5 judges.

The all five judges must score the fight, and the winner will require 3 votes.

Where I'm trying to get at is the addtion of 2 x additonal random judges should aid with minimizing the "corruption".

 

But how do you determine which is which from compubox numbers?....you cant

I didnt watch the HBO telecast, I watched the one with Brian Kenny who happened to have Bradley winning 8 rounds.

Not if im in a phonebooth cage.

Under both these cases Im assuming you had Pacquiao dominating Marquez in their last fight because Pacquiao domainted JMM compubox wise landed and thrown. Also Marquez post fight face was much more damaged than Pacquiao's.

 

And dont forget compubox doesnt show shots that did damage and who landed the damaging blows? PACQUIOA. UTTER ROBBERY

interesting thread...interesting take on the matter. i had it 114-114. there were several rounds that could have gone either way. a win for either by a small margin is not a robbery. this fight was much more close than hbo was willing to admit. steward at the end of the telecast basically said that but was over shadowed by jim "big right hand" lampley with his usual bull****.
