i think people are underselling both jacksons power and taylor's handspeed. on film, there is no one in jackson's class except maybe saddler, gomez, hearns, shavers or foreman. we're talking pure power and not punching ability and in this case, jackson is the best ever recorded.

in terms of handspeed, taylor is second only to camacho. the fighters listed and great punchers with quick hands but so far i haven't seen anyone approaching this combination.

jackson just tapped you and you were out while taylor's hands were almost too fast for the human eye. if tyson possessed this combo, he'd never had been beaten...he'd never even hear the final bell

He's about as close as it gets. His pure power was probably a tick below Shavers/Foreman/Liston, and the same for his handspeed compared to Patterson/Ali, but in conjunction it's kosher. And not exclusive to pound-for-pound. Those punches drop any man walking this earth if they're flush.

I guess that's always been part of the allure of the Heavyweight Champion. Generally somebody to be reckoned with, and anything but limited to a designated weight. That guy just destroys you, flat out. It's real life. I don't know how else to put it, but people inevitably still scratch their heads.

I think a fighter, with the right mindset and technique, that has both the speed of Taylor and power of Jackson would make him UNSTOPPABLE.

I think it's conceivable, should such a fighter exist.
But they'd need some sort of never seen technique before to build that sort of power so quickly consistently whilst throwing combinations.

Jackson delivered his punches with startling quickness. But he was not a shoeshine artist like Taylor.

Actually, it is people trying to create new techniques, or put their own wrinkle to them, that has diluted and ruined punching technique.
The trick to punching hard and fast is in short punches and chaining your weight shifts.
