punching with light weights anyone here do it? (Floyd Mayweather does it)

    I have done it but I'm not that big of a fan tbh but as long as you do it sensibly you won't hurt yourself.

    Pay attention to your form, do not overeach and don't punch too hard or fast.

    What are you trying to achieve? Fast punches? Simulation of your hands/arms being tired?

    I shall remember that, there are better ways to condition your shoulders and the forces acting against you holding weights, and wearing gloves are two different things..

    You know bro; you could always.. you know.. wear gloves.. instead of trying to simulate gloves.

    You do own a pair of boxing gloves.. right?

    The logic of "but *insert sportsman here* does it" is stupid. Are you trying to imply that's why he's currently the best around? You can succeed IN SPITE of things that aren't optimal.

    mike tyson lunges when he punches, should you do it. Tim bradley gets a medicine ball dropped on him, should you do it.

    If you look, floyd and cotto both use weights, but they do it quite slow just for the endurance. At the same time, it's quite dangerous, would you jump off a bridge if mayweather jumped? you make it sound like you would , the arguement because this athlete is doing it is dumb, you make a thread asking if anyone does it, they say it isn't good for you and you end up argueing it is while your big arguement is floyd did it lol...

    im sure it works, if you do it slow that is. If your doing it for speed, don't bother it's for endurance but honestly there are better ways to increase your endurance.

    how long have you been boxing?

    I did it for a month

    Almost got Tennis Elbow from it, stopped doing it just in time.

    Didn't really see any advantage to it.

    Only very light weights for endurance workouts and while doing very slow shadowboxing. I'd never actually throw punches and pivot with weights in my hand.

    yes light weights is very good for the shoulders ,i would highly recommend using light weight dumbbells with slow punching making shore your punches are thrown correctly ,,try 3 sets 1min punching 20sec rest
    then shadow box ,,if you have the rhythm for fast combinations you will notice the speed difference
    your opponent cant Dodge what they can't see ,,,thats fast

    Punching with weights then shadow boxing after does not make your hand speed faster, it feels that way to whoever does it, but it isn't true to everyone else.

    I do it every now and then. Do short shots tho, don't fully extend my arms to avoid and injuries and i find it very useful. The "will mess up your punching mechanics" is bull****..
