I scored the fight without the hindrance of national parocochialism and had Joe well enough in front to win, style wise I'm not a fan of either but Bernard tired early and just did not do nough to win.

Hopkins clearly won the fight. I can count on two hands how many clean punches calzaghie landed in the first 7 rounds.

I think joe outworked hopkins and although Hopkins was landing cleaner punches in spurts the fact that he clinched and spoiled as well as using underhanded tactics to stall the fight so he could catch his breath and possibly deduct points from Joe cost him the fight

    I scored the fight 3 times and had the score : 115-112, 116 - 111 and 115 - 112 all to Calzaghe

Joey was very accurate at times and he was slick enough against a cagey opponent like Hops to have set him up and landed str8 left hands down the pipe. But we all know how Cal builds up his stats or how some people put it his volume and that is arm punching relentlessly and in close... You cannot lift your guard or lower your gloves or else he can hurt you with a real shot and you have to eat all that in your arms, shoulders, top of the head and elbows. The guys slaps too fast so that you can release a power-counter shot like Hops and Salem did and his best asset was always unbelievable stamina to keep on doing it the whole 3 minutes long. The fundamental difference between him and P Williams is that Cal didn't use the long right jab and the combo punching that Paul used to.

The fight tells another story. Watch again, with the mute button on.

Agreed. Running at someone and flapping your hands like an excited ****** is not punching. How many of the "punches" thrown in this short clip were included in the ludicrous total of 232, hmmm?

In all honesty i'd rather not, scrappy fight, hard on the eyes. Ive watched the fight twice and had Joe winning twice, the odd right hand here and there is not enough to win a fight.

yeah those were shoe shining bs punches...more punches doesn't really mean you deserve anything. B-Hop was the better fighter, Slappy joe just threw a million pity pats and got credit for it. Clean, EFFECTIVE punching is the number one scoring criteria and slappy landed very few Clean, EFFECTIVE punches, B-Hop didn't either but he definetly landed much more than Joe when it comes to meaningful punches.

Well i guess Malignaggi would be ****ed if ESB was asked to score a fight on effective punching.
