no what im saying is that judges sometimes will look at number of punches thrown , if a fighter looks like they are outworking the other then the judge might score for him.

i scored more of the early rounds for murray because i felt sturm was hitting the gloves , if you look at the punchstats murray throws much more and lands much more than sturm.

    This.

A lot of Murray's "lands" were of the shoeshine variety.

There are two problems with that though - punchstats are frequently wrong and they don't measure the heft of the shots. Sturm was always doing better work and he was never being comprehensively outworked.

He lost that fight and was very lucky to get a draw. If Macklin was a little unfortunate in his fight with Sturm (although I thought it was a 50-50 fight at the time), then Sturm was unfortunate in this one.

very close fight mate , i think a 2 point win for either side and theres not a problem , some like the flurries of punches some like the harder shots.

one of the biggest cases in that department will always be leonard vs hagler , anytime i watch that fight my scores goes from 115-113 to 115-114 leonard.

leonard lands the flurries , hagler lands the harder punches

I think the difference was that Leonard picked his moments and landed cleanly. The shots weren't hard, but they did stop Hagler from punching.

I don't think the analogy is that close though - Sturm always looked in control. I get the feeling that those picking for Murray are doing so because he did better than expected, not that he did that well.

your last comment might be the case for some but i though he was landing more than sturm in most of the rounds although sturm was landing the harder shots....volume just won the fight for me for murray.

if theres a rematch who wins?

Sturm. But then I don't score on volume alone - it has to do something. I always take preference to someone landing hard, meaningful shots. I didn't ever feel Murray did enough to make Sturm think.

i though he did , i cant remember the round where he hurt sturm (mid rounds) , other than that murray was only really hurt in the 12th.

i think that sturm is basically abraham in style....as soon as he fights away again vs top guy then he gets beat.

Sturm looked like he Macklin’d him looking at the last round.

Macklin was an unofficial robbery for Sturm.... every grunt in here had Mackers.
