put a fiver free bet on purdy...after watching that fight last night im prepared to believe anythings possible...hope purdy cuts him with a punch in the 1st and makes him quit.

live the dream , bet on purdy lol

on a side note while he is very basic i like purdy and despite not making weight i cant hold it against him, 4 weeks notice is **** all and he was always gonna struggle to get down to 147

It's poor form but who gives a **** about a paper title being on the line, the belts worthless anyway.

That's the thing, we all know Mayweather is the man at 147.

Eddie was literally whining on twitter last night about Purdy only having 4 weeks to prepare for this. 4 weeks is ample time to get down to the weight, that should have been the least of his worries. Its obvious that Lee Purdy is fighting in the wrong weight division.

I always think about Steve Robinson in these sort of situations.

I'm actually happy the belts not on the line Dave because if Purdy does somehow win, it will stop him coming back home pretending to be a world champion and taking the fans for mugs.

ahh but it's not for the title now...therefore does the 10pound limit still apply?

How can Purdy be the no.1 for the vacant title if he wins when this is two IBF sanctioned fights in a row that he's failed to make weight? Surely they should be removing him from the welter rankings?

Ishy that is far too logical for boxing in this day and age.

It is for the title, its just that only Alexander can win/retain it, but he can lose it

Exactly and it was Eddie who manufactured this postion for a guy who has form for having issues on the scales, so there can't be any bleating about the 4 weeks. Understand what people saying about the belt not meaning anything but there will be certain people of influence or will see this as taking liberties.

As for Steve, I am now seeing flashbacks of Naz gurning his way to victory at the Arms Park what seems like an eternity ago... aaaargh

Frank has gone on twitter to have a pop at Eddie and Purdy

Making weight is big part of boxing knowing u cant make it or even a suspicion that u can't&still accepting a fight is hugely unprofessional

And that goes for both the boxer and the promoter...

Agree with Ice that Eddie can't complain about the short notice. If you can't make the weight, don't take the fight.

Anyone in professional life has to maintain a standard, I do and no doubt you do too. If Lee Purdy wants to take his career seriously then he has to live the life, and if he is then he has to concede that he is fighting at the wrong weight. Dropping to the weight should be the very least of a fighters worries, the vast majority of the time in the gym should be taken up working the fight, not draining. Steve Robinson was working in a warehouse and he took his chance at 2 days notice....From warehouseman to Cardiff Arms Park isn't bad by anyones standards, and all because he lived the life and took that chance.

When you look back at it now, and given what Naz did afterwards, Stevo did rather well I think....even if it did look at times like Hamed was carrying him :?

So he managed to only get off half a pound in 2 hours , it makes you think that he must have taken off a hell of a lot of weight in the past 4 weeks , if he is weight drained this fight could be over quick , its a shame there is no title on the line though

For the 4th or 5th time, the title is on the line, its Alexanders to lose

The title is on the line but why would it be a shame if it wasn't, Devon is no more a world champion than I am.
