Fury hinting his next fight in Saudi?

Saudi's pulling out the money again at the cost of the British public AGAIN.

Maybe they've bought both Fury Whyte and AJ Usyk. lol. Rich plebs.

You misunderstand me. The point is that everyone who buys his fights will also buy Fury fights. Whyte is adding no unique fans to this. AJ would and Usyk would add overseas buyers. Anyone who bought one of Whyte's fights will already be a tied on customer for Fury's.

Yup, this does seem like a stunt by the WBC. By their own rules in 2.6 they make it clear they have sole discretion. Then in 2.16 they place limits on that discretion: 10% to the winner, with the remaining 90% subject to splits within the range of 70-30, 60-40, 55-45, 50-50. Be that in favour of one fighter or the other.

Given Whyte's head trainer said a few hours before this story broke that they were waiting for arbitration in March and there was no way to expedite the process, I don't think this 80-20 announcement changes much except filling some column inches on a slow news day.

Maybe Whyte caves and accepts 80-20 and goes to purse bids, or maybe he just waits for March.

2.16 places limits on that discretion WHEN MODIFYING IN FAVOR OF THE CHALLENGER. Rule 2.6 makes it clear there are no limits when modifying in favor of the champion. The WBC could order 90/10 in favor of the champion if they wanted. Or 85/15. Or 80/20. Or 75/25. Or anything they want. But when modifying in favor of the challenger, the only options are 60/40, 55/45 or 50/50 in the most exceptional of circumstances.

The bid is being held January 11, with or without an arbiter's decision.

Just following on from my above post, whilst I still agree with you for the most part, the current rules and regulations pose a problem as they are shady as ****:

2.6 WBC’s Authority to Modify or Cancel. With respect to any purse offer that it has ordered, the WBC has the sole and exclusive authority to modify the purse offer procedure set forth herein, including all timetables, deadlines, duties and obligations of participants, and the respective percentages of the bout purses payable to the boxers. The WBC also shall have the sole and exclusive authority to cancel any purse offer previously ordered based upon the facts of the individual case or upon special circumstances, as determined by the WBC in its sole discretion.

2.16 Division of Proceeds in a Purse Offer. The net purse offer (after deduction of all sanction fees payable to the WBC hereunder) shall be divided as follows:
    (a) first, 10% of the total shall be set aside as a bonus
    This content is protected
of the contest, then, of the remainder,
    (b) 70% of the remaining 90% shall be for the champion and 30% of the remaining 90% shall be
    This content is protected
    in title bouts; and
    (c) 50% of the remaining 90%
    This content is protected
    in the case of vacant titles or elimination bouts;
provided, however, that the WBC Board of Governors, may by a majority vote, authorize a modification of the division of purse offer proceeds
    This content is protected
in a purse offer in particular cases, such as consideration of outstanding marketing value
    This content is protected
, as the WBC shall determine in its sole discretion. The modification of the split of the remainder shall be limited to 60-40% and 55-45%, except in the most exceptional circumstances, in which the split may be modified to 50-50% at the WBC's sole discretion.

2.25 Non-Applicability of Purse Offer Procedure. The purse offer procedure herein will not be applicable, and may be cancelled by the WBC, when in free negotiations a boxer is offered a purse that the WBC believes in its sole discretion on a case-by-case basis is fair and reasonable based upon the boxer’s historical earnings, the boxer’s services then-current market value, the market value of the division, and the boxing market in general at the time. In each case,
    This content is protected
. Upon any such ruling by the WBC, if the boxer does not accept the offer, the WBC may take any measures it deems appropriate in its sole discretion including, but not limited to forfeiture of challenger status, ordering an alternate challenger or name the boxer’s opponent as mandatory challenger.
Unfortunately in 2.25, the WBC throws all rules out the window, and if Dillian Whyte was hiding his full purse from the WBC in previous fights (as suggested by Warren), then he has just handed them the proverbial loaded gun. Whether that allows them to completely override 2.16, however... Let's see what happens. After all, that's what expensive contract lawyers are for.

If Whyte feels confident of beating Fury today because he dropped him in sparring 10-12 years ago then what's stopping him from accepting any offer and becoming a guaranteed A lister afterwards?

Lol, btw who hasn't dropped Fury in the past, Fury is still undefeated

If Fury won't fight Whyte, will we see Fury vs Wilder 4? Who is the WBC mandatory after Whyte?

Please let it be Wilder v Fury 4! It would be highly amusing if WBC do purse splits based on previous fights, and give Wilder 50-50

Crooked WBC. Whyte puts butts in the seats in the UK. Its criminal to offer him 20%

It's based on their last purses....so Fury smashes him out the park. 20% is fair. It's really down to the bid being fairly chunky. He won't get his $10m though. He'll get $4-7m

It's not fair at all, but you are biased Fury fanboy, so for you seems fair.

It's like to sign a contract for 5k salary and they to pay you 2k and to say its fair. Its literally the same.

Based on their last purse .... Absolutely ridiculous. Like there wasn't COVID and so.
    WBC are corrupt dog***** *******s.

I want to see the fight, otherwise would be super happy if Whyte start another lawsuit against them. They are just begging for it.

I didn`t think Whyte`s PPV numbers were that big in the UK.
