Put The Case Forward For Jeff Thomas In Prizefighter.

From a personal point of view this is what merits my inclusion....

I started boxing as a 11 year old having being a really bad kid and always getting myself into trouble at school. I started boxing because I knocked out a bully in the year above me and the other tough guy in there year was a boxer/ kick boxer. I liked the way he was respected by others and thought I wanted the same.

So I started boxing and because there were no gyms local I used to train myself in the back garden with a pair of 99p boxing gloves and a lemeonade bottle filled with water. I would watch Ali's fights then go outside and box the bottle till all the water came out and then i'd get another one and box that and so on- I did it for hours on end.

Finally when I was about 12 I got taken to a boxing gym -Mathew and Frank Ellis'. They'd spend hours trying to get me not to fight like a ******ed version of Muhammed Ali. I'd spar and spar and i'd get my ass kicked again and again but i'd never give up.

I remember one night there were a load of older lads in they must have been 18-19 and Frank or Matt can't remember made me spar millions of rounds with them. I was getting my arse kicked all over the place my nose pissing blood. I was exhausted and my eyes were full of tears. But I never gave up.

Ellis' gym closed when he turned pro and the nearest gym was about 20 miles away and we were pretty poor back then. But even though it was so far away I still went every sunday because I had a dream and never wanted to give up. When I was training there I worked with Andy Sumner and Neville Rowe who were amazing trainers and I had such great respect for both of them- still do. Neville was a former fighter and as soon as he saw me he said i'd be a champion- I was amazed as he was hard to please. He spent hours with me helping me get better as did andy but I didn't improve as quick as I should have done by listening properly , so I was left ony my own after a while. But I never gave up.

I then started training at another gym- I'd spar with pro's at 14 they were better- stronger and more experienced then me- but I never gave up. I'd literally cry after sparring because I couldn't do what I wanted to. After a great start I lost four in a row at one point- but i never gave up, I changed gyms.

I went back to Sumner and Rowe after that and we had a great time through my amateur career. I always had a ton of bottle and I would literally fight any one. I suffered my share of terrible decisions- such as to Steve Foster jnr who became ABA champion. But I never gave up. and every time I thought to myself i've had enough something would happen just to keep me in the sport. I fought in the ABA's at 17, I beat some very good lads but in my final amateur fight I was robbed terribly and finally I thought **** it.

Then Louis Veitch, the pro i'd sparred with years back offered to turn me pro and against all the naysayers I did it -at just 19. I went 6-0-1 and beat some pretty good lads. I really got the star treatment locally and signed autographs at shows and everything. I was living my dream. Then came the two losses to mcallister- totally heart breaking in that I put my heart and sole into the fights and was judged the loser when I clearly felt I was not. It broke my heart- believe me I cried and cried after those losses. But I still didn't give up.

I fulfilled and ambition by topping the bill locally but that too, was tainted by the pull out of one of the local boxers- everyone was didsappointed that I was upgraded to main event status - but I still got a good win.

Then I had the fights with Murray and Burns- big money fights when I hadn't been in the gym for weeks. Felt like I was virtually selling myself taking those fights. Believe me everytime I lost I was gutted.

I got another win then was scheduled to fight Khan lost a terrible fight at Home to baz Carey. then won, then lost to ***an for the title - retied came back with a shocking draw - and here I am again. Going through it all again.

A lifetime sacrifice is why I deserve every opportunity I get. I've put my heart and soul into boxing. Always tried to be a nice guy and never a bully. I deserve a chance because I never give up.

I've been told throughout my life that i'm really talented- and to have something and then it be taken away is very cruel- prizefighter will be a shot at self respect for me- if I can go in there and lay it all on the line then even if I get beat i'll be happy. I want to do that more then anything. I'll give it everything i've got.

Hope thats not too annoying and long winded.

From Eddies point of view- he has a chance to further enhance his glowing reputation as a people person. The show at the moment greatly lacks any x-factor really with Takaloo's comeback being the real eyecatcher. The inclusion of me - on the back of the massive campaign we've had will give online fans a chance to feel part of the show and i'm certain that audience participation is the way forward in boxing- what I mean by that Is that I am just one of you guys and that makes it more of a spectacle.

Everyone knows that if it wasn't for corrupt judging and broken toes Jeff would still have his 0 right now.

I think that if Jeff turns up at Prizefighter in shape and ready to fight then he'll surprise a few people. Especially if he's not in the final line up.

Put yourself in Hearn's shoes and think why should a boxer who has had one win in 6 years be put in a serious competition like Prizefighter.

I say serious because Prizefighter is capable of launching fighters towards a world title challenge.

I would like to see the lad in, but he has to have grounds for inclusion beyond being well connected in boxing.

So please tell me what is the case for Jeffs inclusion.

Hopefully someone from Matchroom will read that.

I don't know anything about promoting fights or events, but I do know abit about business. That is definitely a unique selling point and this whole campaign is different to any of the other fighters stories who are already on the bill / in line for the slot aside from the past champions.

Jeff should be in because he's ESB's mate.

Seriously the little people, the has beens, the never will be's, those trying to be whatever it maybe in sport, business or any aspect life and those who have had to struggle for what they have already achieved will identify with Jeff Thomas and from a promoters point of view this a business and people will buy tickets and tune in for a story they identify with.
