Good to see there are other people on this forum that have more than half a clue. So if I want to gain 50lbs of muscle all I have to do is inject steroids and my body will just build 50lbs of muscle? NICE! Oh wait, that's wrong :-( The irony in that post. High reps build definition? Nothing build deifinition. You build muscle or you lose muscle. As Patch said, definition comes down to body fat levels. Your problem is sprawla that I haven't said anything against lifting heavy weights for low reps, I've just said you can build muscle with higher reps, which you disagree with. For low reps check out a powerlifter with low bodyfat: This content is protected For higher reps i.e. 12 reps + check any natural body builder or pretty much any guy that goes to the gym. There's a reason EVERYBODY has heard of and done the 3x12 rep/set perameters and that's because it produces hypertrophy. I'm just still laughing at this line - high reps build definition (lean muscle) :rofl
Funny thing is most people believe it. My ex girlfriends brother took steroids for a year. Problem was he did not eat much and was still lifting the same weights at the end of the year as he was at the start. Obviously he did not gain any muscle!!! You always know the person does not know what they are talking about when they say that!!
you will put on 6 kg with out doing weights on steroids, your appetite increases so its hard not to eat. That is fact.
i didnt give any numbers, but if you obviously want to gain 50lbs you will have to train like a demon even on the juice. You will gain 6kg maybe more with out even lifting a weight on steroids. Your appetite increases and it hard not to eat. if you dont put on 6kg your steroids are fake.. i never said you cant gain muscle doing high reps but the original poster wanted to gain 20kg on muscle. There is no way you will gain that lifting high rep low weight. Thats what people do when they dont want to put on too much muscle. To put on muscle mass you will have to lift heavy. Lifting light and high reps will not put on muscle at the same pace as lifting heavy to max reps per set.
Where did you get 6kg from? Over what time period is that? Their appetite will increase but how much it increase changes for each person.
over a full cycle 8 -12 weeks. If you dont your steroids are fake.. if you train weight hard maybe more.. mates have done them have told me and they dont lift weights but train mma.
what do you call mass? 2 kg of muscle from pumping light weight high rep or 6kg of muscle from lifting heavy mass to me isnt 1 or 2 kg
Like I've said before, the point I've been making all along is lifting in a rep range of 12-15 reps+ builds muscle. Do you not understand that? It's a fact. And muscle is muscle, 6kg or 2kg it's muscle. I like how it's gone from higher reps won't build any muscle at all to conceeding it does build muscle but not a lot (which isn't actually true). Now because you were wrong you're trying to compare how much muscle each rep range builds in an effort to make me look wrong in another way, even though you're wrong there too. I stated the fact higher rep ranges can be used to build muscle, that's it, you've conceeded that fact, you have nothing to argue. Don't try and change the subject because you were wrong. What is it then, a figment of your imagination?
Yes you can put on weight without weight training but you originally said This is clearly not true. I would love to see an example of someone getting massive muscles without getting stronger. There have been skinny athletes caught using steroids. That must be impossible as according to you everyone on them gets massive muscles!!
well the original poster wanted to put on 15-20kg of muscle. If he lifts high reps low weight it will take him 10 years to put on that muscle. we are talking building muscle in a quicker time. Heavy weight is the way to go. i originally said 6-10 reps builds muscle. so 8-12 isnt really a high rep range. 15 plus is high rep range. at the end of the day if you lift weights, high rep or low rep you will build muscle, only thing is results will vary. i have seen guys at the gym who lift high rep low weights like women, none of them are big or strong and they are usually a sissy type of guy who cant lift heavy weight. They usually have no work ethic to push them selfs to lift heavy weight, so they cruise on light weight high rep.
When some one says high reps low weight no one knows what their talking about......how high is high reps how low is low weight????? people need to be more percise instead of just saying high reps low weight. 8-12 rep 3-5 sets at 50-70% your 1 rep max for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy 12-20 rep 1-5 sets at 50-70% 1 rep max for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy with slight stamina improvement 20-40 reps 2-4 sets at about 30-50% 1 rep max is stamina with little to no hypertrophy 40-60 reps 2-4 sets at about 15-30% 1 rep max as fast as you can is speed with no hypertrophy. then you have below the 8-12 rep range.... 6-8 reps 3-5 sets at 50-70% 1 rep max builds muscle with slight strength (mainly sarcoplasmic hypertrophy with slight myofibril hypertrophy) 5 reps 3-5 sets at 70-85% 1 rep max builds strength mainly through myofibril hypertrophy with slight neuromuscular strength and explosiveness 3 reps 1-3 sets at 85-95% 1 rep max builds strength and explosiveness with little myofibril hypertrophy 1 rep 1-3 sets at 100% 1 rep max builds explosiveness with pretty much no hypertrophy not that any one cares what i have to say.
