Question about the Mosley-Margarito fight (8th round)

    Isn't cross typically used in the context of a being a "2" thrown after a setup jab (or "1"), as opposed to a lead straight (left/right as the case may be)? That was always my impression. If someone leads with the power shot you typically hear the play by play announcer call it a "straight right" (or left for a southpaw). If it's in conjunction with a jab as part of a combination you hear something like "lands the jab but the cross catches glove". :think

    No my friend. You've never boxed before have you? Anyway, the most correct technical term is calling it a "cross" whether it comes after or before any other punch... but people like being a little more informal and sometimes call it a "straight" punch instead. Either way it means the same damn thing.
