The key to Jones secuess was his legs. They could get him out of trubble faster than any boxer's legs ever could and on the rare occasion that he did get cought with a good punch they keept him standing as well. he still has a high boxing IQ, and still has speed in his upper body. He never devloped great "boxing skills" because he never needed to.

The man didnt suffer a KO until he was 35 after the weight draining that took away his legs. If his legs can dimish why couldnt his punch resistance ? Sure he had great reflexes but I have about 25 Roy Jones fights on DVD and have seen him hit cleanly by many guys including Toney and Ruiz and Jones didnt budge.

I don't think people that say he has always had a glass jaw have actually seen his prime fights... Or anything before Tarver for that matter.

Your posts mean nothing either, unless you believe in trolls.

Not enough sensible posts on these forums, especially with all the glass jaw experts

Or they are just stupid and know nothing about the kind of effect age can have on your ability.

His punch resistance isn't very good, however, I believe Mind Reader and Jimmie has this thread covered with Solid post. He has been hit on different occasions in his prime -- I have seen all his fights -- he has been hit by punchers and guys who have OKAY power. A 154 (started his career at that weight) fighter with a glass jaw can not move up to heavy and take the shots of a man who outweighs him by 20+ pounds, who has rocked other heavies. It's just not possible. It would be like saying Amir Khan can move up to middleweight, when Taylor was there, and take his best punch when he has too. It is simply unthinkable.

However, with that said, RJJ chin is terrible atm. For him to get KO'd by greene, I mean this guy sucks. This Past-it version of RJJ is the king of getting KTFO. Every fighter who he fights who is even remotely world class level scatters his jaw, or at least draws him into a pitiful shell. It is a damn shame. He is still my favorite All time fighter, but he is leaving a very very bad image in the taste of peoples mouth. Sure he should be remembered for his prime years, but people often only remember what you have done lately. And what he has done lately is suffer embarrassing KO losses and get into pitiful shells. He is a shell of his former self. What ATG has had such a horrible fall man?? He deserved better than that, but his ego was simply too much. Makes little sense why he went to fight Tarver on TARVER terms basically! So unlike Jones, he should've made Tarver's punkass move up to Cruiser to have a fight with him or heavy.

I agree with pretty much everything you have said....

Roy Jones is also my all time favorite. I grew up watching his fights, but I certainly don't agree with everything he has said or done and I don't think I am a delusional fan boy like I have been accused of by some of the Roy haters.

I think his chin is not very good right now for pro boxing. But I will always detest people that say it has always been what it is currently.

    Points of fact -

Roy has been hit and survived

Roys resistance is diminshed and combined with age is almost not present in any form

Green may not be a world calibre fighter - he certainly does not suck. He has concrete in both hands ( not like Marg) - but can bang

ahhh age will catch up to most fighters, theyre a bit slower thus a bit easier to hit so he is just taking shots he wasnt used to taking earlier in his career and really anyone or most anyone can get knocked out if hit in that right spot sometimes an inch this way or that way can make a tremendous difference

Roy never had a glass chin. How come he was NEVER hurt when he was in his prime.
Go watch his fight against Hopkins, he got hit with SOLId straight hands from time to time and they didn't bothered him.
He was also hit numerous times but was never hurt. In fact go watch the first Tarver fight, he got hit ALOT in that fight but he wasn't koed.

As in, the Sweet Science - hit and don't get hit? Anyone trying to not get hit is demonstrating the sort of intelligence that allowed humans to evolve from apes. Facefirst plodders like Margarito don't demonstrate that level of higher intelligence.
