i am not a fan of Roach in any way shape or form....i dont like him or his style of fighting and he obviously cannot get a man in shape....i watched an interview and he said Quigg was in a sauna and had the sweat bags on and still could not lose another oz.....what kind of way is that to go into a world title fight against a dangerous puncher, dehydrated to the max!!!.... i am not sure if this fight should go ahead to be perfectly honest as i think Quigg will just stand face first in the pocket having his dehydrated brains bashed in
fiasco... Why would Valdez bother fighting him?... if he was dry as a bone 3lb over on scales then he will be a stone heavier once he hydrates.... i was really looking forward to this fight for long before it was even made....
As of 9 a.m. PT, Saturday night’s Oscar Valdez’s featherweight title defense against Scott Quigg in Carson, California was still in jeopardy. At Friday’s weigh-in, Quigg was 128.8 pounds, nearly three over the division limit, and the camps were locked in a battle over terms to go forward with the bout. In addition to haggling over how much additional money from his purse Quigg would have to give to Valdez (on top of the 20 percent fine from the California commission), Quigg refused a morning weight check. That concerned the Valdez camp because of how much weight he might put on before the ESPN-televised main event, making for an uneven playing field. Valdez, according to a source in his camp, was being advised not to go through with the fight but a decision had not yet been made.
Only IBF rules. He will be 2.8ib more than he would have been. Personally I think as a rule fighters who fail weight on day of fight should not be allowed to take to the ring only way they will learn.
If the fight goes ahead now it just proves how much team Valdez want it. They've had ample grounds for pulling out. It basically shows us Quigg is bossing the negotiations.
For someone who admits having zero life outside of boxing.....missing weight is even more unexcusable I could accept it if he had been partying for two month....loving life
Quigg did nothing wrong...if you believe what he says. He says that ..as per usual...he got to 129 the day before as he always does ...but this time the last 3pounds simply wouldn't come off. It may well be beyond his control....just his body ageing. Remember HE is the big loser here, no one else.
