IF BOTH FIGHTERS AGREE TO THE WEIGHT, THEN WHAT THE F IS THE BIG PROBLEM

That's the big thing the poster is asking. it'd b something if someone was saying no they don't want to, but the thing is both people AGREE.

and it aint like fighters go in a catchweight and then come in too heavy....

I have no problem when no championship is on the line. However, when a championship is on the line, I have a huge problem with them.
The only reason a championship is ever on the line in a catchweight fight is to pad the resume.

agree, when a championship is on the line that's whack

but at the same time, by fight night, dude will still be fighting other dude who weighs a lot more than the weight that the belt is for

again, folks shouldn't hate on the boxer for that, if anything, they should hate on boxing for allowing that

folks can't hate on the hustler for knowin how to hustle the game

Leonard did it when he was way past his prime. Same with oscar when he was past his prime vs hopkins.

You make it sound like both guys are sitting across the table from each other, staring into each others eyes and the both shout out "How bout a catchweight?" at the same time, laughing and happy about it.

Someone is putting it forward in negotiations as a way to screw over the other fighter. There's a lot of reasons a fighter may give in to the catchweight demand, many of which are out of their control.

and making a fighter who is slightly bigger than you drop 5% of his weight so he comes in tired and weak is a dog act.

Anything to excuse Pacquiao's manipulation and weight-draining tactics. I can't wait until he retires so the *******s can too.

Margarito is now weight drained at 150.

So when he fought Mosley at 147, he must be extremely drained?

Commission rules state that a fighter is allowed to weigh up to 147 or 154 for WW or Jr MW. For a team that has been so adamant about following commission rules, the sure do seem to not have a problem bending them when its in there favor. I wonder if Cotto or Margarito were to have said that they want to follow the commission rules which allows them to weigh at 147 or 154 if Roach would have been cool with it since he is so pro commission rules.

As I recall, nobody on ESB (maybe one thread) bitched about Paul Williams asking Sergio Martinez for a catchweight in their title fight.

See how easy it was not to ***** about catchweight title fights? :hey

Who is gonna pass up the biggest payday of their career against the catchweight king???Thats the problem, every boxer out there is willing to put themselves at a disadvantage because they might not get that chance again.Obviously this **** only happens in high profile fights, everybody else within the rankings has to make weight,no if ands or buts about it. You want the tittle make the weight limit like everybody else!!!
