I was so sorry to hear that Murray had passed away. His victory over McBride got some attention when McBride fought Tyson.

When I heard he passed away I bought his book Journeyman. Seems like he lead an interesting, if unfortunately short, life. RIP.

sorry to bump this after over a year, but i've only just recently learned of mike's passing.

I knew mike as a bass guitar tutor. every saturday for 4 and a half years he came to my house and taught me to play.

when i first saw him approaching the house, i saw this mountain of a man come in, but immediately got to know him and really enjoyed that hour every saturday. when i started in a band, mike came to our first gig and spent the next few weeks pointing me in the right direction and correcting me on my technique (which, like boxing, can go out of the window somewhat when you're up on the stage).

Mike was genuinely one of the nicest people i have ever had the privilege to meet and spend time with, even if it was just one hour a week. i shed a tear when my dad told me of his passing recently and am still deeply saddened that i never had chance to say goodbye.

All my best wishes to his family and friends, we've all lost a top man.
