What complete nonsense...so you think we should take "Raging Bull" at face value?...its the biggest piece of sugar coated fiction ever written.

what is this beyond the grave agenda that is so obvious then?

Funny thing JG...It really uinnerving to be in the ring with LaMotta and have him say something like that. But the story goes that LaMotta was the nervous one going into his final fight w/ Robinson that he took a sip or two of brandy before the fight to prop his courage up a bit...Is it fair to say that no matter how nasty you are...There might be someone out there a little more nasty? Such as the case with Robinson?

Thats bull**** that Ferdie Pacheco came up with. You know what LaMotta said at the weigh in? Win he was getting his physical he told the doctor "If I get a cut dont stop it. I'd rather lose an eye than the title." Doesnt that sound a little more like the LaMotta we know and a lot less like a guy who was nervous?

    Maybe so...maybe no...
But I'll give you that I don't think another fighter would unnerve LaMotta...Was not aware of that qoute by LaMotta, it's a good one. I'll just say that LaMotta knew he would be engaging with another guy (Robinson) who also had a nasty disposition, and leave it at that.

His later life from the mid sixties up through the 1980s. Its an interesting read. One of my favorite stories from it: Jake worked as a doorman in a club alongside Nino Valdez. He used to make fun of Valdez for being so huge yet getting knocked out by Bob Satterfield who Jake had KOd despite being so much smaller than Valdez.

Movie did not follow book that much. Big theme of book was his guilt over thinking he had killed a guy, not including that in movie was big change. Movie was great anyway.

I had origional copy back when it came out, first printing,I am still pissed i never held onto it.

Although I don't condone a man hitting a woman I have to add something here. I believe Ms. LaMotta was 75 years old when she passed away. I remember seeing her in Playboy magazine around 1980 or so when the movie Raging Bull came out. She and Jake made nice during the closed circuit broadcast of the Hagler-Duran megafight in 1983. She aged well from what I recall. She was even canoodling with Houston Oilers quarterback Dan Pastorini in the late-70's or early 80's. Vikki was an original cougar!

if you watch the bout, the commentator says " before the bout, lamotta was very nervous and tense, robinson was relaxed and ready to go." i dont think it was made up, jake was scared while waiting in his room to be announced in the ring. i think its probly quite plausible he was scared, considering him having lost to Sugar more times in their rivalry up to that point. besides the commentator sees and interviews both guys before the fight so hed know what hes talking about.
