Legitimate puncher. Doesn’t have more ko’s due to his low workrate and the strange new obsession with people’s shoulder’s.

Though part of his game is intimidating people with those punches on the arms I’d wager.

That shoulder punch always makes me cringe because it lands so awkwardly. Always looks like he'll snap his wrist.

Why is he even going for the shoulder? The shoulder is one of the sturdier parts of the body and it doesn't even score I believe.

Arm strikes I can get but shoulders?

Most likely to inflict enough pain/damage to disallow the opponent from throwing shots at full speed/power.

You know, I used to wonder that same thing until I tried putting on some boxing gloves for the first time and shadow box. My shoulders were exhausted and I could barely hold the gloves up after only a minute or so.

Now imagine fighting someone who hitting your shoulders as hard as they can several times a round for numerous rounds. You're already burning away shoulder stamina just attacking and defending, but having someone specifically target them will chip away your shoulder stamina even faster. Basically, when your shoulders are burning/too tired to even hold the gloves up anymore, your firepower and defense will drop quite a bit and it'll be easier for the other guy to handle you.

Thats why Canelo does it. Sacrificing points is well worth it considering the upsides of an opponent who is too tired to hold up the gloves.

Awesome power but not a true flick a switch kind of power to be fair he moved up in weight and is fighting way bigger durable opps still managing to back them up and hurting them. That’s equivalent to Nonoya moving up to lightweight btw.Which crazy Nonoya fans are against.Clenelo dares to be greater. Is in fact the man in boxing 360 million dollar payday.
