Very good, although it could be better. 2003-05 was dissapointing, but in 2006 was a step in the right direction as he beat the recognized WW champ and a top contender, and 2007 has been pretty good too.
Overall throughout his career, as a whole, he has proven to be a great fighter. He cleaned out 130 and beat champions Genero Hernandez, Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Goyo Vargas, Jesus Chavez and number one contender Angel Manfredy. Moved to 135 and beat the best lightweight in the world twice in Castillo, who IMO is/was the best lightweight of this era. Moved to 140 and beat Corley and Gatti, Hatton wasnt ready to fight him then. At 147 he beat the 2 champions that preceded him Judah, and Baldomir, and former champion Mitchell. Moved up to 154 and beat ATG ODLH. His competition has been along the best in the sport. 5 titles in 5 weight classes and 3 lineal....other fighters get more respect but none have done this besides Mayweather this era. Champions fought and beat11 champions defeated and record against them is 12-0 (5 ko's) G. Hernandez, C. Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Goyo Vargas, Jesus Chavez, Jose Luis Castillo(2x), Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Baldomir, Zab Judah, and Oscar De La Hoya Top Contenders he beat: Justin Juuko, Angel Manfredy, DeMarcus Corley, Phillip NDO, Victoriano Sosa.
Give him a break at 140 and 147, he tried to get Kosta but he opted to fight Hatton, He tried to get hatton afterwards and Hatton wanted a **** load of money, when Floyd moved welter he was set to fight the lineal champ Judah who then screwed it up against Baldy, Mayweather fought both and those who complained about it wanted him to fight Margarito, but look at Margarito now.
Anyway...I think Erratic Behavior's on point with his response, although I would say that during the 2003-2005 period, there were some legitimatly good fighters that Floyd faced. Gatti wasn't the champ at 140lbs, and neither was Corley, but they were still credible top 10 contenders at the weight. N'dou and Sosa were acceptable fighters as well. Still, it could have been better. Quite a bit better. Nevertheless, Mayweather's stepped up his level of comp over the past year or so. Hopefully that trend continues should he be victorious over Hatton.

He has fought excellent competition. It's lacking in ATGs and it is certainly not at the level of Sugar Ray Leonard or Thomas Hearns, but it's good enough for me to call Mayweather an ATG.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Floyds competition at about 8. And thats on a tough scale. If he fights the winner of Mosley/Cotto then he gets moved up to 9
