Like ****. Hagler is a solid eight. You do realise he knocked out all but one of his championship victims? Just like Roberto Duran, who was, ironically, the only one of them who went the distance.

Sure, but he's an aggressive, busy fighter, he's not a knockout artist. As you say, when he meets someone who is teak tough - even a lightweight - who fights from the pocket, he doesn't stop him. He's a heart breaker, Marvin, not a concussive puncher. Even Hearns swallowed some of his bombs.

... That's why he's not a ten. An eight isn't a one punch knockout artist.

Well, you give him your eight, i'll give him my seven, and let's both be content in our knowledge that the other one is wrong.

    What do you score Tiger?

Look, Haggis, I'm the authority on Hagler, right?

Tiger is a hard one to rate, I'd give him a 7.5. His hardest punch was probably the same as Hagler's but he didn't apply it as much.

You are, but you overate him for power.

I absolutley understand what you are saying with this, though I think Tiger's single hardest shot would be a shade harder.

I think we may be remembering Hagler more for his boxing efforts against Hamsho, Sibson, Scypion and the like...

When I think of Hagler I think of Hearns and Duran, which are the fights of his that I watch the most.

I dont think Pavlik hits as hard as Hagler.

Kelly just doesn't have nearly as much tools so his very good power gets noticed more.

Hagler was a good hitter and very accurate ,but a few of his best wins were over fighters moving up,Hearns,Mugabi,Duran.Hagler also stopped all but 10 of his opponents but quite a few were tkos eg the two Finnegan fights,Minter,Hamsho,Antuofermo,I think its reasonable to rate him between 7and 8.5,no histrionics should be heard on that score. He never kod an iron chinned guy with one punch like Robinson did Fullmer.I give him a 7.5

When you rate a fighter for his power, we look at what happened when he landed aggressively on opponents. No good mentioning that he only wore down or cut Sibson, Hamsho (I), Antuofermo and the like because he was fighting a more reserved game.

I think he was aggressive against Sibson, who fought one of his worst fights after amateurish preparation. When I rate fighters power I look at who he kod and how he did it,50 bodies means little, kos over good durable men means a lot, whats hard about it?I dont think Hagler hit as hard as many middles who are considerably below him in talent Sibson ,Mugabi really a LM ,hit harder .Barkley and Benn too,but they didnt have his chin.Hagler couldnt shift Briscoe ,not many could ,Valdez did he hit harder than Marvin imo ,I would give him an 8.5
